when you right click a spell from the skyrim.esm file, the bottom option is USE INFO

when you go into that you'll see where the spell is located in game/who uses it. i want to add a spell (that's already in the game) to the ones we start the game with, and know what to add but don't know how to get it to allow me to add anything. i CAN edit what is there, but can't add a new line even though there is space for one. any ideas?

I am inexperienced, but can maybe help you here:

Load CK, Select Skyrim.esm to get access to game data.

Hit File/Save and name your .esp file (Mod file) that you will load with the game.

Open the Object Window and under actors find (or filter) "Player"

Double click the Player object and the Actor record will open in a new window.

Go to the SpellIst tab at the top center of this "Actor" data interface.

Right Click in an open space in the list of default spells.

Select New and a list of spells will open.

Select from list.

Click "OK"

Save work - Exit

Load game with your .esp file active and you should see the spell available.

I have never modded so maybe I'm missing something, but since no one has responded I thought I would lend an inexperienced hand.

Another strategy would be to place a spell book in Helgen Keep and have the character find it in one of the chests when he gets his first weapons.

Hope this gets you unstuck.

this is really just a quality of life question. the things in that USE INFO window are what is using your spell or whatever. i just thought there may be (and there may not) an easy way to assign somethign to your item instead of having to assign your item to that, mainly when changing things to spice up the racial spells.

i've looked and looked and i'm 99.9% sure it's just an info window that can't be modified in that way. it reads what the spell or whatever is linked to and you can't force it to recognize anything other than assigning something to it the other way
