lister1911
I recently downloaded a mod, Black Laser Rifles, which has some great looking textures but many of the Diffuse texture files seem to be corrupted. What's strange is that for every Diffuse texture that doesn't work, there's a corresponding JPG with the same name in the mod folder that does work. I'm not sure if the mod author intentionally created JPG's for some parts of the laser gun, but if he did, in every single instance where he did, it has apparently had some effect on the _d.dds file. I don't know much about DDS files but is it possible that the Diffuse textures are somehow getting split into separate _d.dds and .jpg files after unzipping? It seems crazy that compressing and then unzipping could cause something like that but I'm running out of ideas. In regards to that, I've tried multiple manual downloads and have unzipped with 7-Zip, WinZip, WinRAR, and PeaZip--no difference. I'm running Photoshop CC 2017 with the NVIDIA plugin but I've also tried to open the Diffuse textures with DDS Viewer, DDS Converter, and Irfan View. There's no issue opening any of the vanilla textures or any of this mod's Normal or Specular maps, just some Diffuse textures in this mod. It's very weird and I'm hoping someone on the forums has run into an issue like this before. I did message the mod author but I figured I'd try you guys too! I've attached a pic of what I'm seeing in PS. Thanks! http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/7759/?
Perraine
They are probably using the Intel plugin, which is crap. I'd resave the .jpg's into .dds by exporting them as standard DXT5 textures, the same as vanilla. .
