I would recommend the Cyrodiil Upgrade set of mods to you. It fills in a lot of holes left in the vanilla game, adds lore and storyline, and improves NPC AI 500% (NPCs will be seen all over Cyrodiil vs. one or two locations).

(1) Origin of the Mages Guild

(2) The Elder Council **

(3) Elder Council_the Temple of the One

(4) Kvatch Aftermath

(5) The Necromancer

(6) Kingdom of Almar

(7) Fighters Guild Contracts

** - a work in progress. You can join the Imperial Legion and work your way up to Captain, you can collect taxes (& go good or evil on that), and rise to being a Duke. This mod will be close to completion once Giskard codes in the capability to rise up & become the Emperor of Tamriel.

I also recommend "Midas Magic Spells of Aurum". Hidden quests to find, new worlds/dimensions added.

Thivery in the imperial city is also good.

Try Otherworld. It's still only in it's beta phase, but it's still very good.

Enter the Shinobi is good if you're at a high level and want a challenge.

You should also take a look at the Top 100 on TESNexus.

Damarask, Pirate Isles, Apophis Armory of the Silver Dragon, and if you're interested in large scale mods, The Lands of Solstheim-Vvardenfell-Mournhold is worth a shot.

The above are good, but you are forgetting to mention that not all are currently available. He can only play OMG, TEC and CURP.

Fighters guild contracts, Almar, The necromancer and kvatch aftermath are not available for public. That is only not to confuse people so they ask the same question again why can't i download all mods.

A quick update. Fighters Guild Contracts is now a part of the Cyrodiil Upgrade Overhaul and The Necromancer is available on Nexus again! And The Elder Council is a ready-to-play mod.

CURP stands for Cyrodiil Upgrade Resource Pack and it's not a mod by itself. But it is needed by all available Cyrodiil Upgrade mods:

Cyrodiil Upgrade Overhaul

Origin of the Mages Guild

The Elder Council

The Necromancer

Gates to Aesgard

Lost Paladins of the Divines

There are more I'm forgetting.

As far as vanilla sidequests, it seems like I've done hundreds, and I haven't done any of the DB questline at all.

And I have 900 hours in one character, only one game ever, and I have yet to get bored.

There are sidequests in every village, so I'm assuming you're not paying attention or talking to NPCs about "RUMORS".

There's a longish questline to cure yourself of vampirism, if you ever get infected to the point you need to undo it.

If you go to the UESP WIKI site, there's a list of vanilla questlines.

I second the recommendation for Giskard's mods.

The best reward I got for completing Shivering Isles was the reward that came from the Kvatch Aftermath mod. I wasn't too thrilled with the vanilla rewards, but then I got the one from KA and I swear I literally did a happy dance IRL!

add the mod "Bartholm" lore and game friendly, new never ending arena, tons of quests and some good Island combat!

I agree, but it is not much of a lore-friendly mod.

I recommend these:

Ancient Towers by William sea, a lovely mod.

Thieves Arsenal by scruggs, a quest mod with Voiceovers.

Ruined Tail's Tale by Simyaz, altough not all dialogues are Voiceacted but that does not make a bad experience.

Servant of the Dawn by Endrek, for those Bad guys out there.

The Pirate Isles BETA by Darksoul, for pirates!

The Heart of the Dead is a definite must.(Requires Shivering Isles though.) It offers puzzles, good story, a companion, several new items, long, interesting and hard quest(With multiple choices for several play throughs.) and lots of stuff to do in general plus a very nice reward at the end. Spoiler for those interested on the reward;

It's a fully furnished house with a bedroom, bathing area, large main room, lots of containers etc. and you get a nice set of armor aswell. You will not believe how good it looks before you actually are in there.
