  1. 1. Would you like to use a mod that gave Markarth city guardsmen full Dwarven equipment?

    • Yes, but use normal guard gear stats, with just dwarven looks.

I was thinking how all the guards look alike, and I have started planning out a mod that will give each main city guardsmen more fitting equipment to their area. Markarth was the easiest one to figure out. Dwarven city = Dwarven equipment.

I know this would make the guards a little over powered, and if that is too big of an issue, I can make the dwarven looking armor for the guards that is has normal stats.

Damn it.

Seems like every time I come up with a good idea its either already taken, or beyond my abilities as a modder.

So what? If it's something you want to do, go for it, and to Oblivion with whether or not someone else is doing something similar.

Invariably, your approach will differ from someone else's. Take a look at my Improved Craftable Lockpicks mod (link in sig) -- I wasn't the first one to make lockpicks craftable, nor even the first to decide that it just makes more sense to make them out of steel rather than iron, but I had a slightly different take on how it should work than others did (i.e. your Smithing perks affect how many lockpicks you can create) so I went ahead and did it anyway.

Take a look at that other mod -- those Markarth guards don't look like they're wearing dwemer gear to me! So you've already got a different take on how it should be right out of the gate! I say go for it anyway!

Ditto kromey - I think the OP should go ahead and do it! That's why I said healthy competition. Everyone has a unique vision and the CK and The Nexus allow us to create and share... I'm sure there are people would would D/L his version over someone else's...

Alright. Well, looks like I have a new, and hopefully attainable mod to work towards. I'm not very good at modding, so the mods I plan on trying my hand at are going to be small fixes, or tweaks. Things that make the game seem more real or alive.

To be honest I don't have a clue on how to do this, so I guess I better get started reading. lol
