CTD after using NMM

so I went on steam and downloaded the hi res packs.

 

I am not a very visual person, but I thought I saw more detail.

 

anyway, I wanted to add a mod, so I used NMM. but it did not work. I changed some ini preference and made something not read only, and I could use launcher or nexus mod manager to load files.

 

but when I load with the hi res packs activated I crash to desktop immediately or when I first fast travel.
