King of Skyrim

By the end of my playthrough, my pockets were so full of gold I didn't know what to do with it. Also, the connections I made with the various guilds just didn't seem useful at all.

So I was thinking, what if you used all that gold and used it to mass an army to conquer all of Skyrim???

This would bring some real time/turn based strategy to the game when controlling your army.

Here's my thoughts on it so far:

You would start your conquest with a fort that can hold a certain number of troops. To support these troops, you need a number of resources: food to keep your men full, mead to keep them happy, and metals to keep them well equipped. To expand your army, you would need to capture farms, mines, forts, and other places. When you have the resources for siege machines, you can bring the fight to the Jarls!

There would be a general for your army that would determine your main strength: melee, range, magic. Not only would that specific troop be boosted in strength (warriors have shield bash, archers have longer range, mage has bigger aoe spells), your other troops will also get bonuses (like warriors being able to use flame cloak).

To even start building an army you would need connections to get all the material. That's where your guild connections come in. The thief guild may not be interested in joining your army for a war but they can certainly provide you with goods. The College of Winterhold probably wouldn't be interested in your conflict but a young mage may join with aoe spells that give your troops a fighting edge. You can also hire various trainers from these groups to teach your men new formations and tactics or blacksmiths to forge better equipment.

Unlike the stormcloak/imperial quests, the guards in the cities shouldn't be push overs. After you conquer a city, reinforcements may come from Cyrodiil and the other Jarls may get aggressive with you. In the end, the army you fight will be about as powerful as your own, so tactics would be encouraged. You would need to position your troops along certain paths to defend attacks.

This is all I've thought of so far. Tell me what you think! And please respond if you can add to the idea or if there may be technical issues involved. I haven't done any modding before, but may try soon.
