Can someone help me with this purple mountain LOD problem I'm having?

Solid colors are a texture problem, usually related to running out of video memory: no matter the color. They are also one of the first indications of the "too many plugins" problem.

Now LOD landscape textures are different than the usual textures, saved in different files (*.LOD). But no matter where the solid colors start to appear, they are an indication that you are pushing your system beyond the limits it can handle. Do not make the mistake of thinking this is solely an LOD issue. Everything that is rendered in the same frame contributes to the system video load: foreground, mid-ground, and background together. Reducing the size of "object" texture resolutions can drop the load enough to enable you to get away with the higher LOD resolutions, and vice versa. You simply can't keep adding high resolution textures everywhere without hitting a limit, so prioritize.

Please see the 'Issue: Pink Screen or textures' entry in the wiki "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide. Also, take a look at the "VWD/LOD Overview" article on TESTG. The TES4LL tool might be worth adding to your LOD toolkit.

Hm, I've disabled several plugins and uninstalled two of the LOD mods mentioned (So just leaves me with one LOD mod and the LODGen), but still the same exact result. I haven't read everything on those links yet so I'll check them out more thoroughly.

Hmm Idk, I've uninstalled NMC's texture pack and Wasteland Flora Overhaul, the two biggest mods I have, and still bubbly purple. It's only the mountains in this one area and over by fiend territory. I'm going by your suggestions and the ones in the links, but I can't seem to fix it.

That really sounds like just those particular LOD files are missing.

Have your tried toggling "ArchiveInvalidation" off-an-on again since you uninstalled mods?

Have you re-run FNVLODGen as well? You need to run it every time you change your "load order" as it builds quads of adjacent cells based upon the LO sequence.

Do the purple mountains only appear when looking through binoculars? What about through a scope? Without any "aid"? Does it clear up as you get closer. If so, is it still "distant" when it does lose the purple?

If none of that works, your fastest solution might be to restore to vanilla and re-install and TEST one mod at a time to pin down which is causing the problem. (Please see the 'Restoring to "Vanilla" ' section of the wiki "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article.) I know that sounds painful, but so is flailing around in the dark when nothing logical is working.

That's what I think it is.

Yes, I do that constantly.

Yes, I reran it after I uninstalled those mods. But for the sake of it, I will try it again.

No, I only used the binoculars in that pic so that I could zoom in on the LOD without actually getting close to it. They're there at all times. I've tested it and when I got close to it and made it load it's proper texture, it was the correct red canyon mountains.

It looks like it may come to that. It's not the end of the world.
