Applying textures

Here is my problem and I would greatly appreciate any help. I am trying to make 2 dogs to act as followers at a later time.

I duplicated the stray dog twice and gave them 2 different base I'd,s . My question is how do I make one dog one texture and the other one a different texture. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You're going to have to copy and paste the mesh and rename it for each dog, edit the texture paths via NifSkope (these are stored in the meshes themselves) and make sure you set up your plugin to reflect the changes to the names of the meshes.

Have you extracted the mesh from Meshes.bsa? If not, that's the first step. BSAOpt, BSA Browser, and FO3Archive all work for Skyrim's .bsa archives.

Secondly, you would make two copies of the mesh and name them differently. You can place them in whatever folder you like (inside the \Data\ directory) but \Data\meshes\*yourmodhere*\ or something similar is recommended.

Find the texture(s) you'd like to use and/or alter them to your liking in PhotoShop, GIMP, or something similar that can handle .dds files. Name them similarly to the two dog meshes you moved earlier and place them in a folder (\Data\textures\*yourmodhere*\ for example).

Finally, do the texture paths in NifSkope (remember, they're stored in the meshes) and set up your plugin to point to your two dog meshes.
