Followers in Skyrim, sadly suck.

This is sad to me. I really like Aela the Huntress, even married her, but there is no more dialog. Nothing. That's it. She can't even be intimate.

WHY BETHESDA? WHY! Fallout 3 had an amazing follower system! And that was FOUR years ago! Fallout New Vegas was even better (although the follower's were very lacking in that game, the quests and interaction were very good.)

Does anybody know of a Follower Overhaul that adds new dialog and quests to the game for followers?

Because as of now, I am a sad panda bear. I want to fully experience the Skyrim environment, with my lover Aela by my side.

Well, in regards to FNV, the followers were better in every turn. They had terrible pathfinding, but I'm not sure if Skyrim isn't actually worse even in that. Don't remember Raul getting perma stuck in a pebble on the road or falling trough floor and then falling dead from thy sky half hour later. Also at least some basic choices as to how do the followers behave would be cool. Not to mention, some "back away!" command would be helpfull, since NPCs can't be easily moved anymore.

But...

But!

I am sure some awesome person will make them all better eventually, with the kit out...

And the marriage needs fixing too. It's just weird, especially if you marry someone from Companions.... How they suddenly turn from tough warriors into overly sweet shopkeepers who enjoy cooking :D

Aela isn't all that sweet. Pretty much none of her dialogue changes. I wish she were more intimate, I really like her personality. It is attractive.

I don't know. I didn't like FNV, nor did I like the followers, but at least they had extensive questlines and lots of room for interaction. How they would give their thoughts on the situation and such. In that regard, they were even better then in FO3.

But Skyrim followers are just walking zombies :(

Well, frankly, TES and followers ... They never really were... deep. But even the technical side kinda sucks, the lack of chance to configure AI and the pathfinding (Like when the follower decides that the best way to get around a stone in the middle of a road is to find nearest mountain, run around it twice and then go back to the stone), or the weird skills they have... Like Farkas, looks like your average heavy warrior and despite the looks and a fact that he wears heavy armor and twohanders, he has One handed and light armor skills...

But yeah, with the addition of "romance" option, one hoped for a bit more depth, but there really isn't. It's more like quantity over quality. You can marry half of Skyrim, but they are all the same.

Yep followers do suck.

Things that need to be changed I believe are:

• More options, such as how close/far to stay.

• What sort of fighting style they should use melee, long ranged, or magic.

• Better trap detected: Followers are dumb as rocks, not able to see a trap especially one I managed to trip by mistake as well.

• Mounts for Followers: Sick and tired of followers lagging behind when I ride my horse, they should be able to ride horses.

• Path finding sucks.

Bethesda just ranks the whole companion system well bellow world building and everything else they do well. Personally i would take a 90% cut in the number of possible companions if it gave us a Bioware level companion system - that's something they know very well and excel at (environments...not so much)

In my opinion, Bethesda followers suck PERIOD. NPCs don't take your sneak levels into account, so you're constantly being detected even though your sneak skill is maxed (both level and perks) and as soon as you're detected even the slightest bit by a hostile, companions go into attack mode.. Fallout New Vegas followers weren't much better. The only reason I used FONV followers was for their perks, and mods put a quick end to that. Edited by whoden

This.

Plus more intimacy in marriage, more dialog options, and in depth quests.

But that will never happen :(. No follower update for us.

I am sad panda. It took so long to get into Aela's pants, and for nothing.
