iscrybble
Hello modders! I have a couple of cleanup questions that I'm hoping you could answer for me. I've created a mod with the creation kit, but before I get too excited and upload....I referenced several objects in unrelated cells during the design of my mod. I'm worried that opening/viewing/accidental rearrangement might conflict with other mods out there. How to I ensure that my mod only affects the cells I've intended to change? In the render window, I see a ratio that seems to indicate 157MB as a limit of some sorts. What are the consequences of going over that value? Thanks for your help; my apologies if these topics have been covered before!
zenkmander
For your first question, you can click File->Data, select your mod, and hit Details. This lists your mod's changes. So if you see a change in some different cell, you can just select that change and hit the Delete key to mark it as Ignored. So when you load your mod up in the editor, it won't load that change; and if you save the mod without that change being loaded, it will be removed. Clean mod! As for the second question, I'm splitting my map into two rooms so hopefully ignoring that memory value will be okay. I'm not that much over the 157 mark anyway... but I'd still be interested in knowing that the MB size is meant to indicate, if anyone knows? minimonster
I'm new to all of this, but it seems as if I 'get it'... My best guess (so far, having had no hits on Google other than this one), is that the 157 numbers are an indication of the memory load of both geometry and textures, with the 157 MB being the recommended 'upper limit'. I have just finished a revision to my first mod that hits 116% +/- @ 181 MB +/-, and except for a slight stutter when the level first loads, it still runs fairly smoothly even without optmization, which I have tried once. It does increase framerate, but I had problems with the rooms matching up, and it did nothing to the load number.
Hangman4358
As far as I can tell most Vanilla cells, at least world cells in Tamriel are over this limit, sometimes over 200mb. So i would not worry too much about it. I would say thought that going much higher is probably bad but IDK what would happen.
Deleted1016523User
Nice, I need to know about potential consequences about going over 157MB in my own mod, Skyrim - Wrath of the Lich King - only ONE interior cell is over the limit, which is the Forge of Souls, but it has far less objects and navmeshes than the Spire halls - which has far more objects. Hmmhh... I'll just glare around like a cyclops - WHICH I AM! (only have one good, useable eye) - until I find a proper answer. Heh.
