SkullBunny69
Hello, I just recently found out about this site and the benefits of modding. I am a console-convert, and so when I think of mods, naturally I think of cheaters on Xbox Live. Until I was set straight just recently. Now I have read through a lot of this stuff, and I must admit that for a beginner this is all very overwhelming. I have Skyrim installed with the latest update and the High-Res Texture Pack dlc. I have a list of mods that I would like to use, and frankly Im a bit confused on exactly how I should go about installing these to get the best effect out of everything. I know a lot of these tell you to install this before that and that before this. I am wondering if someone could give me an idea of the order I should install these, and maybe a warning on things that may conflict. These are, as far as I know all the up to date versions... SkullBunny69
So, no takers on a little friendly advice, then? I understand. I'm fairly stingy with my musical knowledge. So i have gone ahead and installed these. Along with some texture mods. RTE and RWT or something like that. Also, went ahead and grabbed the Dovahkiin Retreat as well. Anyway, I have the NMM and I have SKSE and things seem to work fairly well. Except that now I have a bit of stutter when looking around, and my arrows dont name correctly. Where they should now be i.e: Arrow-Ebony they are still named Ebony Arrow and so on. The arrows are the only thing I have noticed it on though. everything else seems to name accordingly. My biggest concern is the stutter though. What could cause this? I am running MSI Radeon Hd6950 Twin Frozr II 2GB gpu. It was running perfectly on Ultra settings before I installed the mods. Any suggestions? Side note- I dont know how you guys do this, but these are absolutely amazing!!! Kudo's to everyone involved with these mods. Its a shame that "amateures" make things look and feel better than the people who developed the game. Thought that was why they got paid the big bucks. You guys (and/or gals) have some amazing talents. @ Moderator- I believe I mistakenly put this in the wrong section. I do apologize for that. If it can be moved to the proper place, I would appreciate it greatly. Edited February 12, 2012 by Malachai6669
Triaxx2
It doesn't appear that any of those would conflict. So installation is just a matter of doing what you've done, which is installing them. Remember that installation order is important. Why? Because texture mods in particular will over-write earlier mods. So if you find that the sunglare isn't quite right after you've installed a particular mod, you'll have to uninstall it and the sunglare mod, then make sure the sunglare mod is installed afterwards, so it overwrites the files instead of getting over written. The other thing is that load order is important. Some files prefer to be loaded before other files and some prefer to be loaded later. Midas Magic for instance, likes to be last in the order. We're still fairly early in the modding cycle of Skyrim, with the CK having just been released Tuesday, so it might be a bit before we start getting lots of incompatible mods. But now authors can properly diagnose crashes to make more stable mods. The best advice of all though is to CAREFULLY read the descriptions and readmes of files before installing. If it tells you two things are incompatible, it means it will break your game. Glad to find another convert. And don't feel too bad about Bethesda. They had to design the game as low as they could so the consoles could run it. That's why the HD Texture pack.
