VikingPrince
Ancient Rome was very patriarchal, but pagan Celtic society had female warriors. Boudicca (also a Druid) being the most obvious. The concept of medieval knighthood with females being squawking, helpless maidens requiring rescue is a more Christian, chivalric thing. It strikes me as rather odd that in order for modern females to fulfill their potential, some societies thank that this is only possible by emasculating males. There were societies where female warriors existed - there were no societies where women warriors were common. As a group neither their biology nor their psychology is suited for it, and so our social mores concerning warfare are not built to accommodate women warriors. They did exist in some times and places...but they were exceptions. And that's fine. I have no problem with the exceptions existing in the game. It's fine to me to see some female warriors running around. I think it's a bad fit to have them be run-of-the-mill soldiers and guards, but as adventurers, heroes, it's fine, and there's precedent both in history and in legend. What I find odd is the rather high percentage of guards that are women - it seems like about 10% are women, although I've never counted - and especially the absolute and total preponderance of women among follower mods. They really are almost all that's out there. The breakdown of follower mods seems to me to be roughly the following, complete with names for each archetype: 24% Porn Starr: hardcore porn women wearing a dominatrix outfit or just panties and a bustier that doesn't actually cover anything 30% Bambi Boobz: cheesecake women wearing something that looks like it was stolen from the Frederick's of Hollywood catalog, a hooker's closet, or a stripper's costume wardrobe 40% Red Sonja: pulp fantasy women that fit the Frank Frazetta art style of Skyrim - sexy without being pure fan service porno fantasies 1% Ms. Furry: Khajit or Argonian women 1% Mr. Furry: Khajit or Argonian men0.5% Romulan Comander: Elven men2.5% Ken Brah: pretty boy human men, with carefully trimmed stubble, a $40 haircut, and a nice clean Ken-doll face0.5% Thor: Burly, armored Nord warriors practiced in splitting skulls and looking the part0.5% Conan: Brawny Breton, Imperial, or Redguard versions of ThorSo yeah, finding what I wanted was reeeeeally difficult, and like I said, apparently most of them are hanging out in Whiterun drinking the Bannered Mare dry.
