manbullcultist
So this started a week or two, about a day after I had been using the creation kit to make a custom race using skin textures I tried porting over to Special Edition. I was trying to load both my plugin + another mod whose permission I was given to use assets from, but after waiting about an hour the creation kit still hadn't finished loading them. I checked to see if it was just the plugin I have been working on by loading only the base Skyrim master file + update master file and when I do so the problem still occurs. Though a bit slow, everything loads up fine until after "verifying files" has completed and it moves on to "loading cells", at which point I find it impossible to tell if it's loading or not based on how little progress is being made. I tried reinstalling the creation kit itself, but that doesn't seem to have fixed the problem either. Status: Resolved. Completely wiped every trace of the program from my system and then reinstalled it. Edited May 25, 2017 by manbullcultist
NexBeth
How long are you waiting for it to load before giving up? The new CK takes a lot of time to load mods compared to original skyrim.

The new CK takes a lot of time to load mods compared to original skyrim. On average I wait about an hour, which I think is a reasonable amount of time for any program to load up. Up until now, I have never seen the Creation Kit take more than 20 minutes at the most to load up a plugin. I cannot fathom why it would just suddenly change in that regard now. yarddogg77
Hey. I had SSE and Creation Kit 2 installed on my old laptop. Recently I cobbled together a better tower pc so I copied SSE over to the new pc. I've been using the SCK 2 for a few weeks now without the Bethesda launcher. Everything was working anyway except scripts. I tried to update but ended up with a mess so I decided to reinstall SCK 2. Long story short, the uninstall is messy. I installed the bethesda launcher, but it wouldn't uninstall the Creation Kit completely. I had to reinstall the SCK, then uninstall it through Programs, then manually delete all the files, and clean my PC with Ccleaner to get rid of all the orphaned files left behind by the Creation Kit. Then I verified SSE through Steam, and reinstalled the Creation Kit using the Bethesda Launcher, now it's working. I tried to port over a few small mods I had made for Skyrim 32 bit, but SSE didn't like them, and i had the same load trouble as you. I had custom Nif files associated with the ESPs for the mods. I think the SCK 2 for SSE didn't want to load the ESP because the Nifs are so different. That's my theory. I just ended up starting all over with my mods. Sorry my response doesn't fix your issues, but that's my experience.
yarddogg77
Maybe it wasn't the Nifs, but if the game engine can't use the Skyrim 32 bit Nifs, then parts of the Creation Kit for SSE like the render window, wouldn't be able to either. You could try replacing the ifs with SSE nifs of the same name, then try to load the ESP. If you had custom textures assigned to them, those would still work with SSE Nifs. The ESPs are to point to the Nifs , and SCK 2 will try to load those Nifs. Try changing the Nifs if your mod has custom nifs, then I might load up. Edited May 13, 2017 by yarddogg77

I'm not sure if my attempt to port something over is entirely the culprit since when I try to load only the base files or other mods I exhibit the same problem. Anyways, I'll have to get back to some of your suggestions when I have more room in my schedule. I tried uninstalling the Creation Kit a few days ago but it didn't solve the problem, so I might have to try and do and complete wipe of it from the system. Urtho
What is the recommended time to wait for the Creation Kit to load? Is an hour or more uncommon? I have never used the original Skyrim's Creation Kit. An hour to load a mod into the CK? I'd have lost it long before then if it took that long for me given how often I load up my mods in the CK to work or check on things. Now the new CK does take noticeably longer than the original CK to load up the same mods but it should never take an hour to load up. If you have a decent system and are running on an SSD, anything more than a few minutes is too long in my view, even for big mods or the DLCs.
