Problems with modded game.

Hey guys,

I've been running fallout 4 recently with a lot mods and whilst it runs reasonably well usually.

I notice a ever growing dipping in frames.

My Vsync is off and frames capped at 60 so it doesn't make the Havok physics engine go crazy.

However i get some crazy drops at random points that seem to grow in frequency until it becomes unbearable.

 

System:

I7 6700K @4ghz

GTX1080

Any ideas?

Any programs to see logs or a live readout?

ok,downloading snaketail to read my papyrus logs during gameplay.
Something to fix errors or a program which will uninstall everything so i dont have to reinstall again?

Hi

 

I have the same CPU in one of my rigs. It has no trouble handling this game even in Boston.

 

I also have a GTX 1080 in another rig. I get a totally smooth experience with it at 3440 X 1440 with an old i72600k. The 1080 is driver sensitive. I use the driver version 376.33 with it. Before that driver the 1080 would not throttle up in this game or Skyrim SE. I am afraid that newer drives may bring the issue back so I will not update for now.

 

All the lag that I get is from I/O & that is when saves are about at level 60. I also have the game on SSD.

 

Use software like Fallout 4 Performance Monitor that will show CPU usage, GPU usage & I/O. As you play the game you will see what spikes or does not respond when the fps drop.

 

I found with my rigs that when an I/O read was over 220 mb/s I got lag. The lag made rings around built up settlements in older save games. CBBE & Better Settlers female only are the biggest culprits in creating the lag in my game. In tests I also found that saves created before Nuka World & the last updates would lag at 148mb/s. This looks like a limit in the game, not the SSD.

 

If you are running at 4k with that load list you will get GPU lag. I use 2x 980 tis for 4k & they are just adequate.

Hey,
I've had the task manager open and it showed it was running under 4gb memory, CPU was about 30-40% i think, and the GPU was at 50%.

But i'm only running in 1080P.

 

There does seem to be a lot of points where the game is looking for certain files or stuff and causing it to hang.

using snaketail on the papyrus logs the hangs seemed to be with quest related things and DLC.
Problem is it's mostly Bethesda DLC that seems to be causing errors.

 

I'm going to uninstall mods and uninstall the game, Redownload and keep a fresh copy on a storage drive.

Then work through and see if i can figure out the problems.
