Fine Steel Swords normal maps / Insanity

Using Insanitys armoury compilation and I have problem with Fine steel swords (short, long and claymore). When facing certain directions swords look awfully blurry and even when textures show its lower quality than it should. Installed with Mod organizer and it should be ovewriting anyother that touches those files.

As you can see textures blur depending where you look. Also disregard UI I was tweaking ini at that moment thats reason it looks silly.

That's the way the Fine Steel Swords have always done. Insanity's armory dose touch them..........yet :smile:

you can fix this by make a detail map like skyrim has for it weapons and giving the detail map to the fine steel nif files

As far as know no one has released any. I tried it as an experiment by using a basic detail map by making a black and white version of the fine steel longsword texture and it work.

It did as you still seen the blade texture when you passed into shady areas. As to releasing it I'm not planning on it as it was just an experiment. Hopefully some one how's better with textures can make proper detail / m.dds file for them.

No never did any texture stuffs. i know how to tweak around construction kit. But dont have any graphical skills.

Actually I just thought of this. My fine steel weapon in black mod are just black and white version of the fine steel set. To get this to work you will have the edit the texture name like so

rename the steellongsword.dds to steellongsword_m.dds and drop the texture in the weapon texture folder. Them in the nif file find the line listed as NiTexturingProperty side click in the blank area next to it and a box will come up that gives a list of maps to add. In this case you will want to click Add Detail Map. Next find the _m.dds file to want add to the nif file you adding it to.
