armor

Ok, so last night im filing through files for my new male blademaster char, went through 63 some on pages of armor mods on TES, the went to planet elder scrolls went throu 36 files there, and came to this conclusion. For every 5 female armor mods there might be 1 original male armor mod. Now two things come to mind. 1: either im too damn picky, or 2: there is no imagination when it come to male chars. My point in this post is, Im all for the female eyecandy, i love it, its nice to be able to make my female chars sexy, and deadly. But when it comes time to make a male char. look good there just isnt anything out there. Most of the mods are just either a: recolor of vanilla oblivion armors or really big, bulky, and just down right ugly armor. Now this post is not to dog any of the great modders out there at all. Your work is greatly appreciated and wanted. All im saying and maybe im just not looking in the right place is, where the hell is the armor for light, fast, sword playing chars. I dont even know if im making any sense, trying to explain it is a bit tricky, cuz i dont want to offend or piss anyone off. That is not what this is about. Its more of a concern of mine personally when trying to create certain char types. Would like to know what everyones out look on this is, so hit it up and tell me your thoughts please  :thanks:

Slof sexy male armor, giger armor, Lost paladins of the Nine ( there is a heavy and a light version in the game just make sure you have no infamy), Saurons chest, most of paleriders, Armoury of Conan, dreadweave, Nightshade, X-files armor mods, all these might work for you as they offer light armor variations. Also in some women mods there is some stuff you could use too, Like the Horns and helmets from Apachii goddess store. Also Adonnays Ranger coats, Apohis silver dragon armory, Skyrim armory, WORM, Hasashin,( all these are not women only mods) i could go on. That should be plenty that DONT SUCK< and are not just retex of originall meshes, But there is one RETEX i will mention, DALLS-BLACK LEGION, makes the legion armor look cool. check it out.

And there is also a mod that sells the stuff conan and red sonya wear but i cant remeber the name, all i know s it was all written in french ( in game ). Armoury of conan didnt do this, it added Stuff like Thulsa dooms armor. Another great one for a blademaster would be black luster ( for the swords ) and BLACKLUSTER2HAND ( for dual wield ) and forgotten shields for the armors it offers. *not just shields in that mod*. Good Luck! BOBs stuff too might work for ya.

Came across the mod Leviathan Armory during a search for something else. No screenshots available, and I haven't downloaded it, but read the description and the user comments.

I agree, though, that there are many more "eyecandy" mods for female characters than for male characters. Me? I like realism insofar that I like armor to look like it'll protect me. My character has Light Armor as a major skill, so I use light armor, though there are times when I wish I used heavy armor (the Dwarven Greaves are just so cool).

There are some pretty awesome armor mods out there, such as the Daedric Lord Armor and Cryos Ordinator Indoril Armor. I have to add Saviour's Armor, because the texture for the hood is absolutely the coolest texture I have ever seen. If you don't like the enchantments, then get rid of them with Disenchant Spell (Enchantment Removal does not require OBSE). Anyway, sorry for that, I just love the hood...

Slofs Oblivion Robe Trader (here is the Exnem version)... well, I tried it (I really like the replacer for Mankar Cameron's robe), but it changed some robes that I already liked, and did some unexpected things, like change the Battlemages' armor so that it looked like something from Cirque du Solei. o_O Which is fine, I guess, if you like looking at bare-chested (except for the artistic vibrant-colored scribble that replaces the cuirass) stock-vanilla-body middle-aged Imperial men. I think I'll leave them in their tin cans, thanks just the same. :P

I think it has more to do with the sorts of armors that people would want than anything. In most cases, for females it's easy, anything sexy, tight, or with exposed skin would pretty much work. In most cases for males it ends up being "what would look cool". Unfortunately "cool" is not as easy to define, and multiple people may not agree on that definition. For some "cool" comes in the form of armors shown in other games, but those sorts of armors don't always look right within Oblivion. For others "cool" can include things like spikes, capes, blades, wings, chains, and such which require a bit more planning with the creation of the mesh, and don't always weight very well.

This is of course in addition to the usual issues that are involved with creating a new set of anything worn. Clothing and armor meshes require alot of effort spent in building the mesh, then adjusting the weights of all the verticies so that there aren't any unusual deformations. So people tend to only do this sort of thing when what is being asked for is something they show an interest in. Call me crazy, but it's alot easier to talk most people into spending 20+ hours staring at a female form than it is a male form.

The greater variety among feminine garments only makes it easier to find something that hasn't already been done, or to incorporate various elements together. There will always be that disparity since it is much easier to adapt something masculine to be more feminine than it is to take something feminine and make it masculine. Essentially, a pair of pants can go either way, but a dress will always be feminine.

Here is a link listing to a variety of armors for Robert's Male Body Replacer. Not sure if you use that body mod, but it's being constantly updated. It also includes Vanilla conversions and a variety of different textures for the mod if you're interested.
