It means when you installed the mod, you put something in the wrong place. Go back and look at the folders and files in the mod and ensure that they are copied to the correct location in the data folder.

That exclamation inside a yellow block means the game can't find the texture file for that item. Whatever mod you installed has separate texture files that need to be in the Oblivion\Data\Textures folder where they can be found by the game.

When you download a mod, you should download it into a separate folder - I use Oblivion Downloads. Then each mod should have a folder in there. Move the zipped file into the folder and unzip it there, not directly into your Oblivion\data folder. Read the readme that is usually packaged in the zipped file for any special instructions.

If you did this you will have the zipped file that you downloaded and the unzipped version both in that folder.

Look in the unzipped files, look for either files with a .dds or a folder labeled Textures. Copy whichever you have into the Oblivion\Data\Textures folder. If it asks about overwriting answer yes.

If you let us know what mod it is, we can look it up and tell you what the texture files are.

Also, make sure you always take a look at how things are spelled in the mods you use. The problem you are having happens a lot when folders in a mod are spelled incorrectly, like "Texture" instead of "Textures." or "Weapon" instead of "Weapons." It would seem to be no big deal to add the s and stick the files in the correct place, but that is effectively changing the path and will cause the "!" mark to appear.

It's Textures? I thought it was meshes o_O I get that problem to sometimes. Or I used to. But I thought It was meshes....anyways i could be wrong just I thought if you have the mesh but without tectures it would just be the shape of the object but with no textures. And it's all Pink. And if it's Textures but no meshes its the ! mark. Anyways just put the tectures and meshes in the correct folders and your problem is solved.

It's fine to just copy the whole folder and then paste it onto the Data folder. You will get an error message that says you are about to replace or overwrite something with the same name. This is normal. For instance, if the mod has a folder named "meshes" and you copy & paste that onto your Data folder, you will get the error because there is already a folder with that name inside the Date folder. Just click "OK" and the contents of the folder from the mod will be sorted into the proper place in the Data folder.

You can go into the folders and move the files manually, one by one, but you really need to be aware of what you are doing.

ok, I am pasting a file with the same name, and a thing pops up kinda like what Woogie but it says...

This folder already contains a folder named '(put Folder name here)'

If the files in the existing folder have the same name as the files in the

folder you are moving or copying, they will be replaced. Do you still

want to move or copy the folder?

| yes | | yes to all | | no | | cancel |

so, if this is what Woogie said, I should press "yes to all" ?
