Deleted2725090User
I'm interested in getting started in modding. I figured a good start would be with something simple and yet useful, so I wanted to make a general price changing mod. Trouble is, I've never modded anything before. I'm not sure where to even start, or look. If someone could just point me in the right direction, I'd be most grateful.
NoAardvarksAllowed
If you're planning on changing a lot of the prices, I would suggest you use SkyEdit and not the CK. The former allows you to batch edit a whole lot of entries at once, while in the CK you have to do it individually for every single object (unless I've missed something?), and this gets old real fast. The prices of ordinary stuff is very straightforward: you just open the object in your editing program and replace the existing value with your new one. Magical stuff first have a base price, which covers the basic item, and on top of that the magical effect has it's own value, determined under the specific effect. Save all the changes you've made in a new .esp and then load it up in the game. Easiest way to get started is just opening stuff in the editor and see how it's done. Remember, modding is a lot about trial and error. Never be afraid to play around with stuff--just make sure to keep backups.
