can't use cheats, help!!

i can't use cheats! :wallbash:

iv tried typing -dev after "C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\OblivionLauncher.exe" (yes i remembered the space) in the target box but when i do that the launcher appears but play dosn't work

iv also tried to find bAllowConsole line to se if it was set to 1 but its randomly not written anywhere in the oblivion .ini

plz help im probably just doing something stupid and obviously wrong

i'm not usually a big user of cheats (defeating the game without them is more satisfying) but i want to use them to test mods and stuff

You don't have to do any of that. Just press the tilde (~) key ingame. It's right above tab. That will open up the Console.

You don't have to do any of that. Just press the tilde (~) key ingame. It's right above tab. That will open up the Console.

thats the problem the tilde key dose nothing

Are you using the media center version of Windows? if so, to get the tilde '~' to work, you must unplug the remote connector and probably reboot the computer. - Thanks to Microsoft mapping that key to something that is used by that accessory.

 

Or, there is a mod that allows The console to be opened using a ring in the game. Here http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13133

you can add the line "bAllowConsole=1" in the ini file, in the [general] options. Perhaps it can works.
