gotenwarrior61
Hello Nexus users, I have made a mod that changes the Pale Imperial Camp to seem more realistic with more intelligently packaged soldiers, indepth guard and patrols and a morning wake up horn and formation too. So in the morning, the 110 brand new soldiers (and refurbished existing Legate) stand in formation for about an hour with no one talking or doing anything really. What I want to do it have a morning PT (physical training) session before everyone goes off to their duties. But I don't have the an animation or the possibility to create one myself. So I am asking the community if someone could send me the push up animation from Fallout New Vegas or FO3 so I could include this in my mod. My mod can be found on the Nexus here. ALittleBird
That is illegal. You can't take animations from other games. What you can do, is get an experienced animator make one for you. Anyways, the mod seems great! I always felt the camps were a bit too small and unorganised.
gotenwarrior61
Well I do own the game, I just uninstalled it before Skyrim came out. And I know the extention of the animation file is different so it would have to be converted and in that case is it still bad?
Lachdonin
It's the animation its self, which is attached to a seperate product lisence, which makes it illegal. You can create something visually identicle and use it, but you cannot use the ported animation from a different game.
gotenwarrior61
Well what's the difference of creating mods that involved trademarked characters? That's just as "illegal" as anything you're claiming.
kromey
Porting animations and other assets from other games is illegal -- that's copyright infringement, and in some cases may also be trademark infringement (although for a mod that'd be pretty hard, I think, but IANAL). There are some games that have explicitly opened up their assets to such ports (I think The Witcher is one of those?), which makes porting those not illegal; Bethesda has not done this for any of their games, however. Duplicating trademarked/copyrighted characters etc. yourself may also be illegal, however there's a significant gray area between "copyright infringement" and "homage". Still, it's probably a no-go to try and put Mickey Mouse into Skyrim... That others may be doing any of the above by no means makes it legal for you to do it -- that's akin to arguing that you walking over and killing your neighbor isn't murder because there are murders every day! All of this being said, what you need is to find an animator willing to create the PT animations you want, but don't try and port someone else's work without permission. gotenwarrior61
I don't mean to sound annoying, it's just a little frustrating since I don't have the capabilities to do it myself. And from my understanding it is actual work creating an animation which is more than I ever see from the mod request forums. Oh well. There are other interesting things I guess I can do. :wallbash: Haha.
