wfandrews
Ok, I found out a temporary fix. If you got Skyrim BEFORE the Steam Dependent Update (SDU), you can retreive the TESV.exe from a system restore point. If you got Skyrim after the SDU, you are pretty much screwed unless you can find another way to disable Steam. I pre-ordered Skyrim from Amazon in 2011. When I received Skyrim approx. 4 days after it was first released it was necessary to play it on Steam, in other words it had the Steam.exe file on the disc and as far as I know there was no way to remove it; believe me I tried. From what this post says about the SDU Skyrim was first released without having to be played on Steam. I just wonder how this could be, perhaps someone could explain it for me. mikeloeven
Actually what you need is to edit the executable to not load the steam DLL and not throw an exception when it's not found. Should be fairly eaisy but again I dont trust any "Cracks" and would rather have instructions to modify the executable manually.
wfandrews
Still does not answer my question as to whether it was ever possible to play Skyrim legally outside of Steam?
