Shading Problem

You say this is random, how often does it happen? Have you installed your graphics cards latest patch? Are you running any mods that affect shading?

 

A mod list and load order would help us diagnose this. Also, are you running OBMM, OBSE or any other helper type programs?

 

Most likely - you are running 2 female body replacers. Oblivion will only use one in the game at any time. All females, both NPC and character will use the last one loaded and overwrite any files from the first one. My guess is some of the textures from the first one are not being overwritten by the second one and are still being used. And yes, some of the same textures are used by both Male and female NPCs.

 

To trouble shoot, find a place where you see the problem and make a save. Then exit the game, disable one of the body replacers and start the game with your save. see what happens. then exit the game and disable the other one, re enable the first and see what happens. Take screen shots of each for comparison purposes.

lol. ok, lemme address a few questions (Out of many) first. I'm using the latest OBSE DL (I DL'ed just this morning but never had a problem before with 1.3) Also using OBMM. I have the latest Driver for my card. As for when it happens, it happens often, but not too often? And it usually goes away after 3-5 seconds, but there have been times it stayed like that longer. I'm rather kind of new to how to load up the mods in load order as to where it won't conflict much. As for the Full-OMOD-Fixed, it's HG EyeCandy Body.

Streamline does all kinds of weird things. I use it and I have had many strange happenings with it and they have been hard to track down. Still like it though. It nearly doubled my frame rate in some wilderness areas. There is an upgrade V3.1 and a patch to the 3.1 that fix some problems with the v3.0 I think it is still a beta though. My problems have all been with distant views or fog and not shading.

 

As to the body replacers, I'm not sure how having one as an OMOD and part of the other as an esm will interact but one has to overwrite the other. I think OMODs load first but I could be wrong.

 

I'll keep looking for the thread on shaders I saw some time ago. I think there was some discussion on changing shaders manually. I'm not sure if it was in response to a problem like yours or not.

6) Can you explain the load order thing? If I want one mod to override another which order do they go in?

esps/esms are loaded from top to bottom, and if two mods conflict the one below will override the top one. esms are always loaded before esps, regardless of their position in the load order. esp load order is determined by the 'last modified' time stamp on the files, so opening/saving an esp in the cs or something will move it to the end of the load order. There is no such thing as load order for data files; if two mods have conflicting data files, obmm will ask you which one you want to use.

 

7) What about omod load order then?

omods don't have a load order. When you activate an omod, any esps it contains will appear in the left hand panel, and their order can be modified like normal. If an omod doesn't contain any esps, then load order has no meaning. (See the note about data files above.)

 

The omod list:

The right hand panel lists the currently available omod files.

 

The coloured square next to each mod indicates its status. Blue mods are currently active, green are inactive with no conflicts, orange are inactive with minor conflicts, red are inactive with major conflicts and black are inactive but activating them will overwrite an esp belonging to another mod. Holding the mouse pointer over an omod will display a tooltip containing some info about the file as well as the mod description. If you want certain mods to stand out, you can assign them to a group and then set a different font for that group.

It's Streamline. I unloaded the HG EyeCandy (Exnem never posed problem before) and started TES, problem still there. So, I loaded it back up but I then unloaded Streamline, and started TES again. Nothing so far so I tried to replicate the problem by going into sneak mode, running/walking around NPCs for about 2 minutes, nothing. So, I loaded it back up and 15 seconds into game, there it was. So, I'm going to DL the latest version and patch and see if that helps, if not, I'll just unload it till it gets fixed, as it really breaks the way the NPCs look, which is kind of a deal for me.

 

As for the ESP Loading, I understand that much, but what I was referring to was how each Mod would interact with each other in they're load order. How they would conflict and such.

What is your antialiasing set to? This looks like what happens when you have anti-aliasing set too high. Your AA settings for your videocard could also be causing some issues. You might even want to try changing your lighting and shadow settings. It could be something as simple as your videocard's ram filling up too fast due to any texture packs you may have. That would also explain why it only starts happening after awhile.

My AA is set to 0. As I said, it's streamline. It happens only when I activate it, both 3.0 and 3.1. My Int and Ext shadows are midline I think, but my card MAY be getting old lol It's an nvidia geforce 7300 LS 512 (Low I know, I put settings to low - midway)

Indeed Streamline is messing up your Oblivion.ini I think. I had the same issue once. Disable it and overwrite your Oblivion.ini (located in My/Games/Oblivion) with your Oblivion_default.ini after renaming it, then run the launcher and press 'options' allowing the game to establish again the correct settings. You may reinstall the unofficial patch aswell (using the installer version), I believe, as it changes some settings in the oblivion.ini too!
