Creation Kit hell...

Recommended Posts

CK also depends greatly on your virtual memory...

Make sure that its configured to at least 12GB hard drive space or it will randomly crash.(this means ACTUAL free space so make sure your main drive isnt full and has at least 15-20 GB free)

Btw CK can use up to and sometimes over 6GB ram depending on what you are doing.

Also note that the CK "sees" your installed mods as well while loading if you arent using a separate setup for modding.

In other words...anything in your fallout 4 data folder is loaded as well.

This is a bit of a problem because when it finally loads up your mod you will see a lot of errors and most of those belong to the mods it loaded as well so dont pay any attention to that list unless the errors are in the <current> .

One more thing...

Be patient while CK loads or does work..

Sometimes it looks like its crashed (hasnt shown any popup yet) but at some point continues as intended.

IF you start clicking on the window when the CK is doing stuff you can easily crash it.

*not joke

I'm working at huge mod too, CK's render window takes a lot of loading time and ram in my work..

and once my cat have jump to the keyboard and push some buttons, this way he disable something, so after it CK's fps increased up to 40-50, and all has become magicaly fast.,

Unfortunately, after program restart all has become slowly again, and i didn't saw where my cat have push)

To think logicaly - it somewhere at 'wasd' location and numbers at right of the keyboard..

Asked the cat - no result )

Always wondered how those who don't use like mod organizer that keeps the data folder clean are able to swap in and out their mods if they do creation kit work. Would seem like every time you want to play the game or mod it would be a back and forth of cleaning out the data folder then re-copying everything back in again.

Some people use a "dummy " setup but its quite complicated to setup . Im thinking of doing it in a dual boot so that its 100% clean and independent .

Hi,

sorry for using thread necromancy, but issue seems unresolved plus I've got similar problem, CK instacrashes, no matter how I run it / how I install it, loading Fallout4.esm equals "Creation Kit 2.0 stopped working bla bla bla"

I've tried googled remedies with ini, different installation paths, OS environment variables all to no effect

can anyone help?

I currently run Win 10 1703 on SSD, steam and F4 on HDD

if you need any specific data, ask

Try running the program as administrator. Also don't screw with it while its loading. Also try

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/15055/windows-7-optimize-windows-better-performance#1TC=windows-7

Its for windows 7, but its mostly applicable to Windows 10 as well.

Also if you have an overclocked CPU (you'll know if you do) try running the CK without the CPU overclocked.
