strawbqwerty
I am in the process of porting some follower mods. Ran one through creation kit and I got a bonus file. A Tes file. SOooo what is a Tes file and will new skyrim actually read/ use it? Or is it yet another example of how half arsed beth was when upgrading creation kt to 64bit ? From very little information on google it may hark way back to Morrowind ? The ported follower mod is from old skyrim.

Algabar
Those .tes files are created, when saving a file (or maybe also exporting FaceGen morphs - not sure about this) fails. They are useless and should be deleted. Don't ask me why they are there....
leonardo2
This thread cover most things regarding converting mods from SLE to SSE. https://afkmods.iguanadons.net/index.php?/topic/4633-skyrim-se-things-to-know-when-converting-standard-mods-to-sse/
dafydd99
For the next person who finds this thread, I think the '.tes' file is a backup file created to avoid losing data when the .esp (etc) file can't be written to. I inadvertently left SSEEdit open and it was holding a lock on the file, so rather than lose it entirely, CK writes it to the .tes file. Unfortunately it doesn't advertise this very well! From the logs... MASTERFILE: Unable to complete operation due to failure removing previous file. Plugin 'Data\XXX.esp' may be locked or read only. Temp file 'Data\XXX.tes' contains saved data.
