nik0li
EDIT: I've finally worked out some of the basic information I needed on my own. -_- My last question is, does anyone know how to make new/edited NPCs show the warpaint and tintmasks in game? Currently, no matter what I choose.. they will not show in the game. I have tried the ctrl+f4 trick for the skin tone which worked for the skin, but not for the tint masks and warpaint. Thank you for your time. Edited February 15, 2012 by nik0li

boomnuke35
Warpaint is In the tab where you edit the npc face textures. Theres a long list of items like eyeshadow and things like that Warpaint is close to the bottom of that list. I'm not sure exactly how it works, because I haven't tried it yet, but someone explained this to me before. I hope this helps!

I know where it's at in the editor but the problem is that once the NPC is loaded into the game, it doesn't USE it. ie, the NPC has all the physical details EXCEPT the tintmasks/warpaint. Bumping this because I have changed the content of the original post. Hopefully someone has some answers regarding getting the warpaint and tintmasks to show in-game. I know where it's at in the editor but the problem is that once the NPC is loaded into the game, it doesn't USE it. ie, the NPC has all the physical details EXCEPT the tintmasks/warpaint. In the CK, up at the top in your tabs under Character, down at the bottom of that drop-down you'll 'Update NPC Body Tint Colors', select that wait for it and click 'Done' and see if that works.I replied to your original post and mentioned the problem I'm having with the lip tintmasks which I think could be related. Apparently modded lip masks will not display at all for me unless they are the original 256X256???I have many 2K/4K texture replacements, all working without issue except for this one. And like you guys I'm hoping someone has the answer. I've tried a few things with the textures, mip-maps, no mip-maps, greyscale, black to trans and none of those seem to make any difference. r1de
a lot of people seem to be having the tintmask issue (myself included). hopefully someone will find a fix and post it here soon.it's abug in the CKthe workaround for now (at least how I understand it), is this: make a simple plugin just containing your npc's basic stats and the face data, then you have to make your esp into an esm (I will leave that as an exercise for the reader  ) load the new esm file into the CK and do the ctrl-F4 on your npc, then it will work. you can then create a new esp to change your npc's stats, add spells, perks, etc... just make sure you add the additional master file (the esm you created) in your new esp. hope that made sense. it worked for me.
