"Legend in the Sky 2: Fallen Star"

I'll start this off by giving you guys some background information. My friend and I created and released our first (and only) mod for Oblivion called Legend in the Sky. This was really our first attempt at modding so we started to make a house for ourselves. It eventually turned into a castle floating in the sky to the east of the Imperial City with a small quest line to obtain it. Check out my sig for a link.

Concept:

Player owned house mod and quest

Will be another castle in the sky.

Player, and companion rooms.

Kitchen and eating area.

Alchemy Room: Organized Storage (a small chest for each ingredient, or A-Z chest like suggested), a "garden" which has all the plants of Skyrim.

Smithing Room: Storage chest for leather, ore, and ingots (One chest for those three should be enough.

Library for your collection of books.

Display room for armor sets/weapons. Maybe a nice place to display Daedric Artifacts as well?

Patrolling guards. This would be nice if they didn't jump off the castle like they did in Oblivion

Portal that you can summon which will bring you to the castle, very nice if you don't like to use fast travel. We did this for Legend in the Sky and it worked out pretty well.

Aquarium: I'll find a place for it, good idea.

Dragon Platform: An area that a dragon can land on/stay. I'm sure there will be dragon mount mods out there at some point, either made by us or others.

Clocks: One or two large clocks and maybe a couple desk sized clocks. I'm reminded of Clocks of Cyrodiil for Oblivion by WillieSea.

July 4 Update

This is going to be a big news update since the last one was in March so lets get started. This fist set of screenshots show the majority of the castle interior. A couple notes...these rooms are still a work in progress, mainly the lighting which I want to keep tweaking. I will be putting up picture frames throughout the castle eventually.

Throne Room/Main Hall - This is the center of the castle, each of the other areas can be accessed through here.

Pic 1

Kitchen and Dinning Room - The kitchen comes with a cooking station and containers for wine/mead, meats, plants, other ingredients, and storage for cooked items. The dinning room is pretty simple right now but we plan to add bards who will play a couple different selections that you can choose and your choice of food delivered to you at the table.

Player's Bedroom - Your bed and a couple unmarked containers are in this room. Along with a desk by the fire, all nine shrines, an aquarium, and the ability to upgrade/unlock sections of the castle.

Mage Room - The name says it all basically. Here you will find enchanting and alchemy stations, garden full of most non-rare plants. Containers for scrolls, soul gems (both types), potions, poisons, ingredients, and a couple for enchanting.

Library - There should be plenty of space in here to store any books you find on your travels. I should note that for now they are using vanilla bookshelf scripts and therefore "should" be compatible with Unlimited Bookshelves. A quest NPC will also use this place as an office and should provide you with little bits of lore. While we are on the subject of lore this house isn't really lore friendly but it also doesn't curb stomp Elder Scrolls lore.

Barracks - No pictures of this yet since all it has are beds for future NPCs, nothing cool to see here. If you have any ideas for features that would be relevant to this type of room I'd welcome them.

Display Room - Large cathedral room with places to display your weapons and armor. The section of the castle this place is in is pretty large so another bottom floor will most likely be added for the pack rats out there.

The Exterior - Now this section is going to show you the entire exterior of the castle as it is right now.

Smithing Area Every thing you'll need for crafting weapons and armor. Containers for ore, ingots, and leather.

Private Garden Pic 1 and 2 a little area connected to the player's bedroom with a small chair and table in the center. You can also walk out to a balcony overlooking the courtyard.

The castle itself, one thing you might notice are the sections of land missing. No worries lol, that happened when I used the free cam mode.

What's Getting Worked On Now

I actually caught some dirty edits (no idea how they showed up) and in my attempt to clean it I broke the esp. Went back to a backup and I'm in the process of getting back the work I made on the dungeon used in the quest. So once the dungeon is done we move on to working on the quest. Also working on all the various scripting things (like the portal spell) and will be adding custom textures to some objects like the banners.

The plan is to get updates out much faster, weekly maybe.

What other features you would like in a house mod? Thanks for any and all feedback! I'm sure I forgot some of my own ideas so I'll keep this updated along with your thoughts.

I think at sea north of Winterhold would be a great place for it, it'd make sense out there and not look intrusive, It could even be a part of Winterhold before the great collapse, that a resident mage managed to keep suspended at the cost of his own life.

This sounds like a fantastic mod! For location I definitely vote middle of Eastmarch! Also, could you add a very large pool/bath/shower room? With a lot of fancy waterfalls and whatnot? For a reference check out this mod and look at the pool in the author and user uploaded images. Also, please add lots of npcs capable of interaction! Nothing is worse than having a giant house/ castle that is completely empty. Have a full thing of guards with a captain. Servants, cooks, maids, etc. Also have like a guest area and have citizens of skyrim visiting and staying in the guest house (kinda like an inn i guess).

This actually sounds like an awesome idea. Maybe make the quest revolved around finding hints or clues about the mage's past and through that you'll find his studies that lead you to where he eventually took the castle/rest of Winterhold?

Seconded. Definitely.

Do it.

Hello everyone, this is just a small update to show you some of the work that has been done. The linked pictures are of the basic interiors of the castle. And when I say basic I mean empty and the layout of rooms will most likely change.

There are a couple places I didn't take pictures of; the kitchen/dinning hall and the main bedroom. You might also ask about the place for smithing. All the smithing equipment will be outside so there is no room for that. As I type I am taking a break from looking at pieces to use for the exterior (I would like to stick with Solitude). As I said in the update I'll be going into clutter and lighting next, at the moment the lighting is just ambient.

My goal is to get the exterior done by next weekend at the latest so hopefuly you can expect another update then.
