Acoran
"I'd really rather not get into a fight. I've a bit of skill for hiding. Perhaps I should go in and take a look at the odds." Karath awaits an answer from the party.
Sol'Kanar
"Maybe you can sit and make a reed basket while the rest of us save the girl," says Zuriel acidly. Zuriel plunges deeper into the cave, bow always in front of him, bowstring taut.
Emry
Kyrene turns and says quietly to Karath," I think that we should have scouted things out first too. However, (nodding to Zuriel's retreating back) it seems that our course of action has been chosen. We should catch up to him just in case he needs our support." She turns back and follows Zuriel silently down the path.
Kethruch
June 05, 1048 0825 The chamber at the bottom of the stairs is indeed formidable, the torchlight only barely reaching the squared, even walls ahead of you and to either side. What drwas your attention, however, is the utter chaos that lies in front of you. There are several tables and chairs that have been smashed, and a pile of charred wood in the center that has what look to be arms, legs, and backs of chairs and tables sticking out of it. The ceiling, some fifteen feet above your heads, shows a great black smudge above where the fire seems to have been, though otherwise appears smooth and clean. Around the edges, bookshelves and other furniture seems to have been torn off of the walls and thrown down, as if someone were bent on total destruction of the area. While there are pages of books and pieces of bric-a-brac occasionally visible in all of the rubble, it appears as though nothing survived intact. The smell of spoilage that Zuriel sensed at the top of the stair is indeed stronger down here, though it is mixed with a smoky smell as well. The only thing that seems to be out of place in all of the slaughter is a red, silky scarf-type object that appears to be hanging about four feet off the ground on the wall to your right. Acoran
"male without a father! Better watch out or he'll end up witha knife in his back one day." Karath mutters under his breath so the others cna't here him, and follows.
Sol'Kanar
Zuriel lowers his bow, drawing his dirk instead. Reaching out one arm, he says "What's this?" as he snatches up the bit of cloth on the wall. Uncertain, Zuriel glances around the room for any other exits or tunnels.
SimVig
Solros follows others down the stairs looking at the chaos and destruction that surrounds him. "What could have happened here?"
Tilindra Melir
Tilindra looks around at the chaos nervously. "I don't like the look of this. You have the signs of a strong fire, but it didn't burn long enough to lay any ash over the room. Whoever was living here made someone really angry." She moves around the room looking at the remains of the books etc, steering clear of the middle. "Does anyone know if we can figure out how long ago this happened?" Emry
Kyrene walks carefully towards the charred pile of rubble in the center of the room and begins poking in it with the edge of her sword. She's hoping not to find a body among the mess.
Kethruch
June 05, 1048 0827 As Zuriel pulls on the cloth, he is surprised as it pulls to its length, then stops hard. so hard, in fact, that it slips out of his fingers, and returns to its hanging position. Scanning the room, there seem to be no other exits from the room, and there also seems to be no source for the smell of spoilage that you have encountered. The fire shows signs of being very intense. If there were any bodies, they were destroyed totally. Overall, the destruction in the room seems complete.
