Kyrene carefully flips over the body, and there is nothing underneath. The stomach cavity, however is wide open, and there is a gaping hole where his innards should be.

Further down the stairs, Zuriel comes upon a room, a room filled with the scent of death. As the light catches up, a scene of carnage like no other he has seen is unveiled.

As the light comes in the room, it uncovers a room about fifty feet square. In the left rear corner, a stack of debris that appears to have been barrels lies coated in a white, powdery substance. In some places, the white shows dark pinkish spots. Next to tes pile of staves and hoops is a pile of burlap sacks, laying as if they had been ripped apart with no concern for their contents, which lie on the floor, covering a solid fifteen foot spread around the shredded bags.

In the back right corner, there is a pile of wood that might have once been a table and chairs. Elsewhere, the room is covered with bodies and blood. The stench is overpowering, and the buzzing of flies is incessant. The bodies lie in every conceivable position, with body parts apparently missing from those he can see from the entrance.

In the far right corner there is a body that catches Zuriel's eye as it does not seem to be in the same shape as the others. From this distance, it almost appears to be whole.

Back in the main room, the others are still puzzling over the symbols on the papers. To this point, the Cerboean and Karina have made no headway even as to the language that the writing is in, let alone what it could possibly mean.

"I'm not really needed up here, I have no sense of lanbguage at all. I'll leave it to the wiser of the group to decipher this, well, whatever it is." Karina says as she takes one last look at the documents and then turns away tward the hole where the rest of teh party went. "I'm going to go with the others, they may need my help."

When she sees the body on the first stair, she gasps, wondering if it is one of her new companions who has already come to no good. She lowers her sword into a ready position and quickly looks around. Seeing that it is not one of the others, she examines the body very carefully.

Morgo moves swiftly forwards, raising his axe to his shoulder.

"This is some sick kind of devilry. We must examine these bodies even more thoroughly, it may give us a clue of what may have happened to the poor souls. These place seems to be magically weaved.. you don't just walk into a dark, gloomy chamber and find a floating cloth. There is definitely something going on here. I suggest we look for more passageways, my friends, what do you think?"

As Cerboen seems distracted and didn't hear her request, Tilindra shrugs her shoulders, and follows the others, figuring she will get a look later. She steps round the ripped body, resisting the urge to retch. As she enters the room, when Zuriel indicates it is safe to do so, the smell hits her. She goes decidedly green.

"What manner of creature does this? This must have happened some time ago, to create such a stench. I think we should avoid touching the powder. It doesn't look very healthy." After listening to Morgo, she replies. "I agree. There is bound to be more to this, perhaps an explanation as to where the creature that did this went. Let us thoroughly explore the rooms we have found first though.

She spends a moment gaining control of her stomach and heads further into the room. Heading to the strewn sack contents, to get a closer look.

Solros follows the others through the passageway. When he gets to the room he looks it over, but quickly tares his eyes away. "This is insane..." he whispers. Almost choking in the stench he walks towards the staff pile and picks one up and examines it.

As Karath reaches the body he sees what is for the most part human-like. It has two arms, legs, about the same proportion as a human, but very heavily muscled. The head, however, is larger, and is topped by several tufts of scraggly hair. The ears are large yet flat, as is the nose. The lower jaw juts forward and two three-inch, tusk-like teeth protrude up over the upper lip. The visage is one that you have heard about only in stories, or if you looked into Karina's sacks. It is the undeniable form of an Orc.

Karina's search of the body at the top of the stairs reveals nothing superficially, though looking deeper, she finds undeniable proof that this was done by Orcs. One of their teeth is lodged in a bone in the ribcage.

Tilindra makes it to the shredded sacks, carefully picking her way over some human remains in various states of intactness. There is little left of the sacks, though traces of their contents cover a large area. The corn is spread over a good sized section of that portion of the room, though there is nowhere near enough to have been contained in the number of partial sacks that are there.

Solros makes his way over to the pile of barrel-staves and hoops. The staves seem to be in various conditions, from whole to cracked and split in two as if by a great force. The barrel-staves seem to be nothing special. (sorry if you got the wrong impression of the 'staves'.)
