Kyrene's head whips around at the startling announcement. She draws her sword with a steely rasp. "Fighters! Form a wedge on me! You others, fall back and watch out for any trying to flank us! Let's be ready for them."

The warning from Karina seems to have included a miscalculation on how far away the Orcs were and also whether they knew the party was there. Crashing through the brush within moments of Karina's arrival are half a dozen tall, thick-bodied and thickly muscled bipedal creatures. They are dark of skin, armored in bits and pieces of mismatched metal and leather things held together with several pieces of what look like tendons and ligaments from bodies. Their heads and faces are large and are, well, only those that their mother could truly love. They are wielding an assortment of what look like not too terribly new or well kept weapons.

As the first ones crash through, they see Kyrene and begin to advance quickly. Kellian snorts, and they pull up short and take up defensive positions directly in front of Kyrene.

Tilindra seems to fade into a recess in the wall, though still visible, she is definitely less noticeable (Shadow Spell - modified roll (MR) 101). The orcs, at the least, seem occupied elsewhere and seem not to care.

BTW - for combat purposes, I will be attaching maps of the situation (crude one below). I am putting in icons for your characters, if you have one you'd rather me use, please e-mail it to me at [email protected] and I will be happy to use it - otherwise, I will use the ones I have below. (Don't worry - map quality will get much better.)

OOC - cool - this might solve some of the questions i seemed to have about what was going on.

Karina holds Kellian back, then notices Tilindra backing into the shadows. "Magic, cool." She whispers to herself. In the training she had, magic was something fantastic, but something regualr people like her never saw. She was definitely going to have to have a talk with Tilindra sometime soon. First, however, the ORcs need taking care of.

While Karina's estimate of how far behind the orcs was off, her estimate of the numbers appears to be fairly correct as three more orcs come into view to the right of the one in front.

As they appear, the one in front barks something in a language that is definitely not common. The others stand for a split second, seemingly confused by whatever he said, allowing the party yet another moment to catch its breath before battle. The look in the orcs' eyes, however, belies the fact that this lull will not be for long.

OOC: Everyone, I'm terribly sorry for not posting for so long. I had several reasons. Anyway, I'll be posting regularly from now on except the first week of June when I'll be away.

Solros seems to be getting nervous. All right, now you have come to what you sought. Stand up to it! Clear your mind, concentrate! After a second he seems to calm down. He draws his dirk and advances forward a couple of steps (one square) while looking around for any object that might be used to help the party. (OOC: what are those yellow things on the map and what's the surface we are on?)
