Their attacks occur virtually simultaneously, the orc's axe laying open a nasty cut along Kyrene's thigh as her broadsword cuts into the muscle of the orc's upper arm, keeping it out of his chest. (OMAR - 85, MAR 86/ACritSL 79) Just then, the figures of Kellian and Karina flash from behind and past the orc. Karina's katana flashes over the shoulder of the horse, and she realizes that her path brought her to the wrong side of the orc. This does not seem to matter though, as she strikes home, though the impact and the odd angle of the attack rip the katana from her hand and it goes flying through the air. Still, the attack opens a large gash on the shoulder and neck which begins to bleed profusely. (MAR-109, BCritSL 40) The Cerboean's spell is impressive to say the least. A hot tongue of flame flares toward the orcs, Kyrene, and Karina, though it only strikes the intended target. The strike is full on the right arm, and the patchwork armor that covers it is destroyed in a blaze of fire. (SAR 136, BCrit 38) Kellian, as well trained as he is, shies from the blast, and Karina has a difficult time staying on. As the Jorian twists, it brings both him and his rider in contact with the weak lightning cloud that is drifting on the breeze. Once again, the horse is startled, and rears. Karina takes some minor damage from the cloud, but aside from the rest of the day being a really bad frizzy hair day, does not seem to have incurred any permanent kind of damage. (RR - 15, ACRIT46, ACRIT62) The orc gets clear of the swirling sand, though still apparently greatly bothered by it. The other orcs continue to advance steadily on the flanks, apparently meeting little resistance, they raise their weapons in preparation for an apparent final charge. Adrian Laguna Posted May 20, 2004 Share Posted May 20, 2004 Out of the corner of his eye, the Cerboean sees the three advancing orcs, who are uncomfortably near. He fires the new Lesser Lightning Cloud at them, so that it hits the three of them at the same time. Then he draws his sword with his right hand, and prepares a Lesser Lighning Bolt. Ooc: Checking my character sheet I noticed that my character has a staff, besides his longsword. If he can fire spells through the staff without damaging it or loosing the some of the spell's power, he will be holding it with the left hand. If he needs a free hand to launch spells, or they will damage the staff/lose part of their effectiveness if launched through it, then he will drop the staff in order to have a free hand. No use wasting my powers where they are not needed... Better help those in need...He looks around once again, stopping his gaze for a moment on the three orcs advancing toward Morgo, Zuriel and Cerborean. Suddenly a smile crosses his face, apparently he has thought of a trick to pull of. He throws his dirk towards the orcs as hard as he can, not caring if he will hit any of them. Emry Posted May 21, 2004 Share Posted May 21, 2004 Kyrene's eyes flash amidst the pyrotechnics but she keeps her concentration on the prey in front of her. She slides to her right to keep from being surrounded by the three orcs weaving her sword in a steely web before her. Melisande Posted May 21, 2004 Share Posted May 21, 2004 Karina tries as she can to retain her mount, somewhat flustered at the light show going on around her. She hopes that the fire and lightning are something that is a good portent, and not a bad omen. As soon as she can, she backs the horse out of the area to see where she can do the most damage next. The Cerboean drops his staff (hope that answers you question) and gets ready for the charge fo the approaching orc. (SAR - 22, RR 85,71,92) In the center, Kellian does what he has been trained, and, though spooked, attacks the orc nearest to him, knocking it to its knees in the process. (MAR 115, BUnbalanceCrit 55) Kyrene's slash hits home as the orc stumble forward from the attack from Kellian, causing a number of entrails to gush out of a now gapin wound across its stomach. The smell is overwhelmingly bad. The orc looks down for just a sec, but tries to struggle again to its feet. The other Orc gets a clear shot in at Kyrene and makes it pay off - the axe bites deeply into Kyrene's upper left arm, grounding itself in bone. Ther is a loud CRACK as it hits, and Kyrene's left arm falls limply to her side. (MAR 155, ESLCrit 78, Orc MAR 188, ECrushCrit82) Solros' dagger is well thrown, and speeds toward the orcs, actually hitting one (lucky shot!!!!!). The damage appears to be minimal, however. (MAR 162, CCrit 04) The orc with the quarterstaff bears down on Kyrene from behind, and the one with the shortsword breaks into a charge headed for Solros. SimVig Posted May 22, 2004 Share Posted May 22, 2004 Solros releases his spell in an attempt to raise the sand around the three orcs, centered on the middle one, in hope of affecting the others as well. Without losing any time, he re-concentrates his mind at the dagger. OOC: Can orcs understand what we are telling each other? And did the dagger fall to the ground or remain in the orc?
