my bad - I am visiting emry at the moment and forgot that her PC doesn't bring up me automatically....

The bandages are seeming to hold much better this time. Kyrene feels a strange, warming sensation in her arm as she holds the sword and begins to clean it. The motion, which should be causing her excruciatiing pain, is only causing her some mild discomfort. The whole area where the herbs are tingles, and feels as though it were going to sleep.

Karath finds a couple of orcs lying together near where Kyrene was fighting. Their weapons are broken and useless, even as stock to be remade into new ones. They had some other things on them listed below

3 small pouches

24 tin pieces

2 copper pieces

2 sets of flints and steel ac55a4, ba1474

a fine cord (about 25 feet worth) 15eb51

a copper ring, too large for a human finger 6aef44

a folded piece of paper 62224a

The boy looks strangely at Karina but happily accepts the food. He does not utter another word as he muches down the biscuit as a starving wolf would a fresh T-bone steak.

Tilindra walks over to the boy as well, first going in front of him then reaching her hand out to put on his shoulder. At first the boy backs away then allows the touch. Tilindra finds nothing but skin and shoulder bone.

Kyrene grimaces as she looks at the gore on her blade. "Orc guts, yech!" she thinks to herself. After cleaning and inspecting the blade for nicks, she awkwardly resheathes it.

Getting up (and marvelling at how good her arm feels), she wanders over towards Karath to look over the loot he's found.

"Anything interesting?" she asks.

Karath pockets the 24 tin pieces, 2 copper pieces, 2 sets of flints and steel, a fine cord (about 25 feet worth), a copper ring, too large for a human finger while thinking howmuch better this loot is than the rest of the orcs....

When Cerboean asks he give him the book, the takes a look in the three pouches. Whiel responding to Kyrene, "Well I've found a book i can't read, this paper; I haven't looked at yet; and a significant amount of junk. But I don't think this was an accidental encounter....but I have no proof yet so it is jsut a hunch."

Karina allows the boy to finish eating. "Where did you come from? Is it from around here? There is a village a small distance from here, do you know it? Do you know where these orcs came from? Where are..." She lets the last question drain off as she realizes that she is overwhelming him with questions. She then sits back quietly and waits.

Sensing Tilindra coming up, she turns to her. "You seem to be fairly well versed. Is there something about "Orik" that strikes a chord with you?"

"Orik is orcish for orc." Tilindra replies. "I would tend to doubt that's his name." She turns to the boy. "Skallasch Orik?" the boy instantly looks up, and begins to jabber at Tilindra in a guttoral tone. Tillindra quickly begins talking to the rest of the group.

"He says the orcs captured him when he was little, and they kept him and had him do things for them. He's marched all over the place, no, wait.. he's been carried all over the place and the orcs came here and now they're all mad. None of them has eaten each other... no, eaten anything, in a long time. There was a ball, no, brawl, no, well yes brawl is best, and a bunch of Orcs went off to find food." She pauses to get her breath, all the time listening to the babbling boy.

"They never returned, and a second group went out to find them and food and there weren't enough left to watch him closely enough so he ran and then got clothed, no wait, lost, and then saw these orcs and followed them to here." She stops a few seconds after the boy stops talking to take another large bite of ration. With his mouth full, he starts again.

"He doesn't want to be carried to anywhere anymore. No, wait - He wants us to carry him around for a while, he is so hungry and he wants to thank the sun-girl for the food."

Kyrene looks over to Karath. "Before those items wander, could I claim one of the flint & steel sets? I seemed to have lost mine. "

She looks around at the carnage before speaking further to the group in general.

"We should clear away from this area soon. Those bodies will bring carrion eaters or other unsavory types. Tilindra, since you can speak to the boy, try to find out if there were other humans with the orcs and if he knows which way there camp was. Julie might be a recent capture of these Orcs if they are abduycting children and using them as slave labor."

There seems to be nothing else of note to be found amongst the fallen orcs. Even though many of the party have never fought orcs before, this seems to be odd. Surely the masses that had swept down and ran roughshod over the Eastern Kingdoms MUST have been better equipped and prepared than this. The broken weapons and the meager loot just don't add up with even the remnants of a marauding army.

The boy again digs into his food with lusty abandon.

Karina sees that she is not goign to be as much help with the boy as she hoped, though she stays there as she seems to have a calming effect on him.

"So," she says to the rest of the party in general. "We have a boy who was taken by the orcs who speaks orcish, a group of orcs that don't seem to be able to even get out of there own way, and..." She tails off. "Tilindra, what was that he said about a brawl? Where was it and how many remained?"
