Tilindra Melir
"All right then, myself, Zuriel, and Karath will go and talk to the father. If Kyrene and Cerborn go and talk to Meriona, then Solros and Morgo, could you wander round town and see if anyone is willing to talk to you. I don't like seeing anyone in the state this village is in, and if we can get an idea of what they desperately need we may be able to find it in our travels." With that she carries the empty plates over to the table that the innkeeper indicated. "Thank you sir for the food, and your wife's song. I will be sure to stop here again, and perhaps then I will be able to let you know what the words mean. Farewell for now." Then, with a quick look at her new travelling companions, she heads outside to wait for Karath and Zuriel, planning to head for the place mentioned in the notice. SimVig
"I have nothing against it," Solros says. "Shall we meet back here in two hours then?" Solros brings the dishes where the innkeeper said he should bring them and thanks the good man. He goes to the door, and waits for Morgo.
Emry
Kyrene gulps down the rest of her tea and brings over the dishes to the sideboard. To the innkeeper. "Thank you for the meal; it was delicious. Would you be able to tell us where Meriona lives please?"
Prowler03
"I shall assist you in finding the daughter, but there is no promise of my assistance afterwards. I am a dwarf, I don't do herbalism. Anyway, I shall go and ask around. Thanks for the conversation, and thanks for the Breakfast good keeper." Morgo stands, and bows slightly and heads out of the door. Kethruch
June 05, 1048 0717 Tilindra, Zuriel, KarathThe house is a small one, well off of the square, with a small, ill-tended field next to it. As you approach, you notice that the father winds up being the mother. She comes forward to you as soon as she sees you. "Thank you for coming. I'm assuming that you are here to find my daughter, right?" She waits a second, getting no answer in the negative, she continues. "It happened last week. We were surprised by one of the raids. Usually there's a signal that we have set up that warns us, but this time it didn't work. Anyway, where was I, oh, yes, the bandits or orcs or whatever they were came and Julie was outside. She's ten, and likes to help outside when she can. She's a good girl, and she always thought that what she did brought in the little extra that would get us through the next month. Well, after the raid, we couldn't find her. We searched and searched and she wasn't anywhere. All I can say is that the trail of tracks led to the northeast. We had problems with bandits out that way - other people like us except they don't want to put the hard work in to get through the hard times." Tears are welling up in her eyes throughout her speech. She takes a deep breath, then the floodgates open and tears flow down each of her cheeks, the rivulets cleaning the morning's grime off. "Please find Julie. We miss her so much. We don't have much, but whatever we have is yours if you can bring her back to us." She then completely breaks down and runs into the house. Kyrene and CerbornThe directions to Meriona's hut seem a little complicated, but as you follow them, you understand. She lives in what amounts to a maze of brambles, vines, and bushes in a stand of trees about a half of a mile off the main square. The directions prove correct, however, and you come face to face with an elderly woman sitting on a stool, looking deeply into a pool of water. She addresses you without looking up. "The flower is called Merianther, and if we cannot bring it back to the area, the village will die. It used to grow wild around here, and its healing properties are great. I used to be able to trade it for a great number of things that the people of this village needed. Now there are no more. I have not seen any for a while, and the village is suffering for it." She looks up, showing a face that is much younger than the rest of her appearance would have led you to believe. "Welcome to our fair village. I say that in complete seriousness. You would have loved it here even a year ago, before the orcs came through." She looks at each of you. "Yes, I am a healer, too. I just care about this place more than most. I provide what I can to the village, and my neighbors help me when I need it. That's what a village is all about, right? Please see if you can find any of the Merianther. If it's a group, bring me a flower. If it's a single plant, bring me the entire plant. This will help get it here." She reaches down under the pool she was looking into and produces a small black flowerpot. "Put it in here with some dirt, and it will stay alive for a month without care. I have some other skills and items that I will turn over to you as I can if you return with a sample." With that she goes back to her pool, looking intently into it. You quickly determine you will not get any more from her. Solros and MorgoWandering around the village, you see a group of people who seem to have the weight of the world on their shoulders. You have seen peasants before, but these people are low even for the downtrodden. The innkeeper was right when he said not to expect much from the general store - the shelves are bare of all but the barest of necessities; food, some worn clothing, some tools that have seen their better days and some other basic supplies. No one is forthcoming with any information, in fact, most of them scurry away as you come near. Even the shopkeeper doesn't even look up when you enter. Prowler03
"Master Solros," Morgo starts, "We are not going to get anywhere with this. Nobody around here would be a bit of help." Morgo can see people walking around him. They all seem incredibly quiet, as if some sort of secret was held by them all. "My only guess is the bandits. I am sure if any kidnappings have taken place it would be of their doing!"
SimVig
Solros: "I agree with you, Master Morgo. These people are so preoccupied with their troubles that they will indeed offer us no useful information. This store is also very badly stocked. I suggest we buy some food for the road, and then return and wait for others."
Adrian Laguna
The Cerborn lets Kyrene take the pot, then turning to Kyrene "Let's get back to the inn and wait for the others, then we can see what they learned and decide on a course of action." Tilindra Melir
Tilindra heart goes out to the woman. She hates to think what those bandits would do to a ten year old child. "We will do everything we can to find your daughter. I am sure we will be able to find Julie and bring her back to you. Myself and my companions will head out this afternoon. If the bandis have her we will bring her back." She turns to her two companions. "Do either of you have any questions, or shall we head back to the others?"
