CKO
I'm searching for a mod that simply allows skills to be individually frozen at their current level, toggle-able on and off, and does nothing else. This is to the aim of simplifying leveling by eliminating the need to avoid "over-leveling" skills, but does so without overhauling the entire leveling system. I've searched for such a mod, but haven't found anything. If something does exist along these lines and I'm just a failure, I'm sorry for wasting your time! LoginToDownload
Try No Player Leveling. It sounds exactly like what you're looking for, though it requires OBSE and the closest you can get to toggling it is activating/deactivating the esp. CKO
No Player Leveling removes leveling from the game entirely. It's probably very useful for testing things, but not for normal play. It's not what I'm searching for, but thanks for the reply.
LoginToDownload
Oh, I missed out the "Individually" bit...If you want to do this yourself in the CS, and don't mind toggling a lot of .esps, it seems to me like you could create an individual file "disabling" each skill from increasing with training by going under Character/Skills, and turning both of the skill in question's "use values" to 0. Vagrant0
This is to the aim of simplifying leveling by eliminating the need to avoid "over-leveling" skills, but does so without overhauling the entire leveling system. What you might want to try finding instead is a mod which alters the rates for just those skills. Each skill levels at different rates, so if you are finding something levels too quickly, you can affect just that skill. You can also do the reverse, make an individual skill level faster. Additionally, this is something you could probably do yourself, and alter as needed, so you aren't stuck with what settings someone else thinks are good. You could also just set your level back to 1, and keep your current skills and stats to help combat this. Those particular skills will still be high, but they won't end up causing you to face things which can kill you instantly. Simply not choosing those skills for your class is yet another option. With the exception of endurance and speed, most stats have multiple skills that contribute to them. You can still use those skills, but your gains won't contribute to your level. Meaning that you could take blunt as a class skill, but only use bladed weapons durring levels that you don't plan to raise strength, or take light armor, but wear heavy armor when you don't want it to contribute to your level. This is one of the things with the TES series that allows you to expand your capabilities beyond just what you chose for your class.
