Eblitzabeth
Maybe we could have a brief bit of gameplay or cutscene where you see yourself and the other prisoners getting ambushed and captured by the empire, before the opening scene
Lollia
I was thinking something similar... I use a lot of mods and I have to pause Skyrim a lot during the opening scene just to ensure that the cart doesn't flip upside down on its way to Helgen. I wanted to devise a method to learn more about the characters in a way that would allow mods to load safely. Hear me out: A black screen, the sounds of battle, maybe a few Ulfric shouts before Tullius subdues him, then the sounds begin to fade as you pass out. The sound of a cell door closing then plays. The dark screen fades and you find yourself in Fort Neugrad and a small tutorial begins for basic movement. After that, you are led around the prison to the waiting cart. In this way, one could hear the cut conversation for Ralof and Hadvar (or repurpose it for other prisoners and soldiers, depending on their voice type), either way, the prison will seem more alive. Also, because we'd be starting out right from the fort, Elenwen could be placed along the road and confront Tullius with her originally cut dialog and the player would be be in a good position to hear it. A couple of stern-looking Thalmor soldiers can be planted at Helgen to justify Ralof's cursing them, since Elenwen will already have said her piece on the road. I figure that in this way, mods can load in a calmer environment, we can gain a bit more insight into Elenwen and more background for Ralof and Hadvar. Also, I think that Ullfric should be allowed to escape with Ralof and the player as it seems he was supposed to originally do. And before anyone even thinks about mentioning the opening scene overhaul mod, please don't. I know that mod, I respect that mod, but I disagree with the direction it ended up in.
