7shots
So I decided to reinstall Fallout New Vegas awhile ago, and I had saved my entire data file before I uninstalled it last year. After reinstalling the game I copied and pasted my data file from my flash drive to the data file on my PC. I did this because I didn't want to have to reinstall all my mods again, and I thought this would be a good idea. Well now when I go to the Good Springs saloon Cheyenne is the annoying red triangle with the exclamation mark. Now I know what you are going to suggest, " Verify integrity of your game cache. " But I had done that twice, and still got the error. The second thing I thought was it had to do with my mods... and I hope that isn't the case, and none of my mods have anything to do with Goodsprings, the saloon, or anything with Cheyenne. So, how could it be my mods? Here are my current mods: FalloutNV.esmDeadMoney.esmHonestHearts.esmOldWorldBlues.esmLonesomeRoad.esmGunRunnersArsenal.esmCommunity Bugfix Compilation Patch.esmMore Perks.esmCFWNV.esmImproved Lucky 38-Suite 2.0.esmNVR-Strip.esmBrahmin Bess.esmLings.esmMission Mojave - Ultimate Edition.espCommunity Bugfix Compilation Patch.esp1000th addon (more containers).esp1000th patch 2.1.esp1000th addon (new walls n floors 1.1).esp1000th addon (balcony 1.1).espLaurens_Bathroom_poetry.espLucky38MarkerV3.espNVR-NPCs.espNVR-Version_10.espPerkEveryLevel.espR.A.C.E. therocko101
You're using Archive Invalidation right?
7shots
This probably a newbie answer, but I never really knew what it was. :wallbash: Feel free to kick me in the head. I did some research on Archive Invalidation, and what I read it just covers up the red triangle error. I want to fix the problem, not just cover it up. I also hear it's outdated... If I read wrong please correct me. I'm open to any solution besides reinstalling all my mods... I do have FOMM. ____________ *Ten minutes later* Ok so after investigating some more I do have Archive Invalidation activated in FOMM. But what does that have to do with anything? 7shots
Alright, don't know what I did but I guess I got it working. Thanks.
therocko101
Archive Invalidation is just a tool that will override the use of the default textures, meshes etc. in the games .bsa's so that you can use other ones. (the ones you put in your data folder) So it's completely necessary and without it you'll usually get those red exclamation marks. So no it's not just to remove those but to fix the problem. But either way I'm glad you fixed it. texture issues are just massive headaches sometimes. PS: Do you use a mod manager? because those come with built in archive invalidation which might explain the sudden fix. Also, it could have been the number of plugins you have installed. I just learned myself that 140 plugins or over will cause FO:NV to freak out for most folks and have strange texture errors.
