esp vs esm

I have installed mods and my game crashes on load. I have dragonbornn.esp but LOOT tells me I need dragonborn.esm. IN NMM it says the plugin is labelled as and esp but the file header marks it as an esm. the same is true for Dawnguard, Skyrim Legendary, etc.

 

 

 

What do I need to do to resolve this?

Hi there. Are you using a legitimate steam copy of the game including it's DLC? If so, have you validated file integrity via steam?

I figured it out and am somewhat embarassed. The esp file was because it was a patch for the mod, not the mod itself. If it'd been the mod it would have been esm, Yes, it's a legitimate steam copy.
