UberSamurai Posted May 27, 2017 Share Posted May 27, 2017 I've recently begun really trying to get into modding Fallout 4, and while I enjoy the idea of manipulating the world at my fingertips, I've quickly learned it's a hailscape. (heh) My problem, at least so far, is thus: I cannot figure out how to get weapon attachments to work properly on weapons in game via the creation kit. Example: I'm using a weapon mod from the nexus that places a .50cal rifle into the game. I've used it for quite some time and I love it. I figured it would be a great place to start in the CK for learning the fundamentals of weapons, attachments, and so forth. Unfortunately, after days by this point, I'm no closer to understanding why my changes to the mod refuse to work than I was at the beginning. To start, the original mod entries in the CK are a complete mess. My first step was to organize everything into something that was both easy to find, and easy to sort. Unfortunately, only the disorganized mess works in-game, despite the fact that every single entry of mine, though they are re-named, is identical to the original. I've even gone so far as to compare my new entries to base game weapon/attachment entries to no avail. For instance, using the same associations on my base weapon (MK3Anti-MaterialRifle) and Object Mod (co_mod_MK3Anti-MaterialRifle_Muzzle_Suppressor) as the HuntingRifle and co_mod_huntingrifle_muzzle_silencer yields completely different effects. On this particular stumbling block, I realized the original .50cal mod and the hunting rifle use dummy receiver meshes instead of the .50cal/hunting rifle meshes, but when I replaced my mesh with the dummy receiver, it completely disappeared leaving only the attachments that I cannot otherwise get to appear in-game; the suppressor, bipod, and magazine. Worse yet, I cannot find tutorials that are worth absolutely anything for what I need. I was finally able to track down something from Bethesda that provided a tiny amount of information about keyword associations and the like, (much of which I was able to figure out on my own) but, for the most part, every person who makes tutorials seems to assume everyone knows how to make attachments work and knows the definition of every association and keyword.I can find ten different tutorials on how to edit dialogue and install CK, but literally not a single one on how to make weapon attachments work in-game. So, I wonder if someone could, perhaps, link me to something somewhere that can provide assistance? Mayhaps, even offer instruction? I'm aware that whatever my problem is, it's likely something glaring at me like I'm an idiot. Therefore, I hope that someone can shed some light on this so I can get to building stuff.
