At a Total Loss, Need serious help

Recently I started having a host of issues with my game and I have NO idea when they started or why. So I tried a clean install and reinstalling my mods. This not only left me with the same exact issues but added more problems. So, once again, clean save, this time reload mods just a couple at a time.

To give you a general idea, one of the issues is that targeting female characters wearing mod clothing would cause my game to crash. Rebuilding them in bodyslide worked on a few of them but not all. Further, female characters who are nude or wearing mod clothing have both legs and their torso highlighted when targeting torso in vats and no highlight for their legs when targeting their legs. This is but one issue I am having.

So this time I simply installed f40E, bodyslide, cbbe, and outfits. Thats it, zero mods besides these. I have tried many different saves, new games etc and all have the same effect. The game crashes when I use vats to target female NPCs wearing mod gear.

There are other mods like the laser crit mod that just stopped working altogether. No matter where it is in the load order, re dling it does nothing, it just refuses to work.

I have tried new video drivers, I have now reinstalled twice. Where do I go from here?

It wouldn't be video drivers causing bugs with game coding.

I would uninstall again, but do a deep uninstall. Meaning after you uninstall via control panel, go to the game directory and delete everything. I'd place money that even after uninstalling the game, there is a bunch of leftover junk in the directory. When you reinstalled the game to the same directory, all that junk was still there and causing bugs.

That's my two cents.

Edit: Wipe out any other game directories too, like the nexus directory for Fallout, and your Fallout folder in Documents.

Sorry for the late reply.

Should be C:/Games/Nexus Mod Manager/Fallout 4

Just delete the whole Fallout 4 folder.

Alternatively, Nexus can open both the game directory and Nexus directory, directly, by clicking the drop-down arrow by the folder icon in the Nexus toolbar for the program.

And yes, it will wipe out all your mods.

This is how NMM actually works. When you "add" a mod to Nexus, and then install it. Nexus makes a FULL copy of that mod in the Nexus folder for said game...that's why some mods take forever to install...because you have to wait for Nexus to make a duplicate of everything. Say you have ModA on your desktop and add it to Nexus, then install it. You'll notice ModA in the Nexus directory as well of the game. The contents of the cloned ModA are exactly the same, or the equivalent of copy & pasting. Sorry for the over-elaboration. I know I said the same thing like 3 different ways.

That isn't all though. Aside from cloning the mod, then it also extracts the contents of the mod from the CLONED file, and injects it into the game directory...essentially making a 3rd clone. So now, you'd have ModA on your desktop, in the Nexus directory for the game, and now you'd have the extracted/unpacked contents of ModA in the game directory.

When you "deactive" a mod with Nexus, the mod stays in the Nexus directory, but it removes the unpacked files from the game directory...this way Nexus knows that you still have the mod on the computer, but the files won't be read when the game starts because they are no longer there.

When you "Uninstall" a mod with Nexus, it removes the loose/unpacked files from the game directory AND deletes the file from the Nexus directory...essentially completely removing it from your computer (and I think it throws it in the recycle bin).

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately some of my favorite mods are no longer available. I did completely uninstall and delete all the mods I mentioned above before downloading new versions, installed them and no dice (to be clear this means I had only the mods mentioned above installed and all fresh downloads). I am starting to think that maybe its my NMM itself. Anyway, I have been able to get the game playing stable-ish. I mean, its not perfect but at least I can play it. Maybe if I can find alternatives for the few mods I have that can't be replaced Ill try to completely wipe the NMM, the game and everything else then starting all over.
