Cannot ALT TAB with Oblivion Reloaded

Recommended Posts

Hello:

So I followed this tutorial

I installed everything and it's all working smoothly.

BUT

I cannot alt tab anymore and I really need it like the most of us.

Many people are complaining this has happened since they installed Oblivion Reloaded.

What happens:

1) I'm in game, in fullscreen.

2) I alt-tab.

3) My screen displays a black window the size of my monitor with borders

I don't see the task bar, I can't close this window, I can't minimize it.

The task manager won't appear if I hold ctrl+alt+del.

I cannot alt+f4 this window.

The only solution at this point is a hard reboot.

Is there any solution ?

Thanks

When that happens to me, when the game gets stuck somehow, fills the whole screen and the task manager refuses to stay up on the screen (Oblivion keeps pushing itself on the top), I usually alt-tab "out" of the game (with the screen being black) and press the Windows button (the one with Windows logo on it). That one opens the start menu that somehow actually stays on top of the game window, unlike all other windows. It is then possible to find either command prompt or Powershell from the start menu, open it to the background (the game will end up on top of it), use alt-tab to make it active (after which it will again disappear behind the game, but still be active so it will receive keyboard input), and then use taskkill to end Oblivion by typing the command 'blind' and pressing enter. The game will then be closed and the command prompt will be on the screen, telling that the process Oblivion.exe was successfully killed.

taskkill /f /im Oblivion.exe

That one works for me. If you can open the start menu, then all is fine. Just open a command prompt behind the game, make it active with alt-tab, type in the commands to kill the game blind and hit enter.
