hollow000
Hi everyone, I have a laptop with an Nvidia GTX 980m graphics card and an integrated Intel graphics card. The problem I'm running into is that Skyrim only detects my Intel graphics card. I've scoured Google for two days now trying to find a fix but every offered solution does not work. Things I've tried:Changing the settings in the Nvidia control panel to used high performance graphics for both the global settings and program settings for tesv.exe, skyrimlauncher.exe, and steam.exe. I cannot disable the Intel graphics card in bios (even with a modded bios) or through Device Manager Downgraded from Windows 10 to 7 Updated the Nvidia drivers Deleted and re-installed Skyrim Tried https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=249499736 but it only detected the Intel card Tried just running the game with the Intel settings thinking that maybe it's actually using the Nvidia card, but I'm only getting 10-20 FPSI do not have an ENB or any mods installed. Does anyone have any other ideas? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Edited May 30, 2017 by hollow000
cmaesing
Hi, I am using a GTX 970M - but am not having any issues. Can you let me know where to check which graphics card it is that Skyrim is using when running? I seem to remember to have investigated this issue a while ago. My takeaway back then (which might very well be incorrect) was that your laptop should automatically switch to the GTX 980M once the internal graphics card cannot handle a certain load anymore. Happy to assist and check at my end to see how it's working here. Maybe that'll help.

When I just run the game with the Intel card selected in the launcher, I'm only getting 10-20 FPS.
cmaesing
All I can say is that when I right click on SkyrimSE.exe, I have as one of the upper options "Run with graphics processor --> ". When hovering over this, I can choose "High-performance NVIDIA graphics processor (default)". If the option "Run with graphics processor --> " does not show at your end, you first need to enable THAT it shows via the NVIDIA Control Panel (right click anywhere on your desktop, and it should appear - am sure you are familiar with this anyway): Within the NVIDIA Control Panel, choose the "Desktop" menu item from the top, then activate "Add "Run with graphics processor" to Context Menu". It now should appear once you again right click on SkyrimSE.exe. ... Let me know if this helps.
hollow000
"High-performance NVIDIA graphics processor (default)" is already selected for both 'tesv.exe' and 'skyrimlauncher.exe'. It doesn't seem to do anything for me. Thanks for the suggestion though.
