NiemcyMnieBija
Hey, First of all, please, if you're going to say it's problem on my end, it is not. I have browsed nearly 90 different sites / thread of people having this problem. Some claim to be unaffected. The problem is out there, and it was "introduced" along with a patch (I have no idea which one, I played this game on launch till the end and had no problem, a few weeks ago I downloaded it again and the problem is present). However, that's not up to a debate. Since there are people with vastly better knowledge I want to know all why and if, so: 1. The long loading screen is consistent. It happens in locations like: 1.1 Going outside the Cambridge Police Station1.2 Going outside Cabot House1.3 Many more, not worth to mention more than two. The long loading screen happens ONLY at a specific location, ONLY when going outside. 2. The long loading screens happen ONLY during black loading screens. The loading screens, even in a location I have listed above, if the loading screen happens to be one with a 3D model and a tool-tip = loading screen takes just a moment. 3. I have tried ALL possible fixes that I could find, even mods that uncap my framerate during loading times but here is the kicker... 4. There is a workaround, or rather 2 for that problem / bug. 4.1 Alt+Tab during the black screen loading, when I Alt+Tab back I hear the door noise and my game is loaded within seconds.4.2 Before going out, I press ~ and type "pcb" command. Then a black screen becomes a screen with a 3D model and my game loads faster however, not as fast as with the Alt+Tab method. 5. After the game loads without using the workaround, my character is standing idle with a spinning around animation (the one that occurs when you are idle for a period of time. Just like the game would load ages ago, but the loading screen didn't disappear so technically my character loaded in the world and is standing idle and I just can't play because I see a loading screen. So, could anyone please tell me: 1. Why is that?2. Can it be fixed somehow by a mod or something else?3. Which patch introduced this "amazing" feature?4. Why Alt+Tab fixes the problem? This is something I just CANNOT grasp with my tiny brain apparently. The only idea that comes to my mind is some texture steaming problem. For the record, I tried using 3 seperate drives to test this. 2x SSD and 1x HDD. I even tried to physically unplug all drives but one and test it on just one drive plugged. Results were the same with a small exception the 3D models loading screens were a bit longer on a HDD. I tried with a clean install of course, the only mod I ever used anyway was the Unofficial Patch. SMB92
How long are we talking about? 5 minutes? After a while if play, 1 minute load screens aren't that uncommon
MightyZ0G
this might seem like a silly question but how big is your save folder?too many auto saves definitely causes long/endless loading screens and, in my case at least, too many saves total causes long/endless load screens. delete all the saves you can live without (keep a few so you can go back an hour or so if you need to) it might not work, but at least it is easy, and if you do it in windows you can always restore the deleted save files if necessary)
