quality vs performance

added many of the mods mentioned such as enhanced night ect ect, took out the enb and switched the aspect ratio of skyrim. no longer playing on fullscreen but only sacrificing about 1 inch on each side of my ~17" screen. running at about ~23-24 fps with my old mods and the new enhancing mods =[]!!!

Sounds like you have a crappy computer, do yourself a favor and save up enough to build atleast a decent rig.

 

if that's not an option or you're to cheap to do so ( i know a few friends like this )

then do the following,

 

Lower your resolution

tweak your ini to lower more settings or even force things off

lower all your settings to the lowest possible setting

turn off all advanced settings and draw distance

remove all mods that will lower your fps ( this includes ENB Series and textures you got from mods )

 

to be honest playing at very crappy settings with everything off is better than everything looking good and getting below 20 fps...

My 24" widescreen native res is 1900x1200, but I play at 1280x720. I play fullscreen, and have my monitor auto-switch resolution to match. For some reason if I play in windowed mode at native resolution, it's actually slower (less FPS) than playing fullscreen.

 

I also play at that resolution because I'm planning on making a couple of movies, and I lose to much FPS trying to FRAPS my game at 1080i, so I'm settling on 720p.

Windowed mode should be slower than upscaling to fullscreen because everything around that window still has to be rendered, like your desktop. Upscaling is often handled by the monitor's processor if upscaled to fullscreen, so is like "free". Not sure about notebooks tho.
