Terralventhe
Since the Space Core mod is out now, why not make use of the fact that we've been given the model itself and then change the eyecolour and use the sound clips from the
darklink941
The problem with that is the copyright problems with the voices on the other cores.Unless you can get a good imitator who's willing to share, or can get Valve to give you the go-ahead with using their material, you'll get pulled mighty quickly. Terralventhe
Considering that it's Valve, the company that adores creativity and freely allows stuff like Gary's Mod, I really don't think copyright would be an issue there.
darklink941
I'll see what I can do.I could at least do the retextures. I can't guarantee any progress on the voices. Edit: Upon looking through the files, it seems to be above my rather low abilities in photoshop. However if anyone else should take a look at this, all you really need to edit texture-wise would be \mods\space_eye.dds You would have course need to update meshes accordingly. Until the word from On High comes down, it's better to stick with the rules as set by Nexus, which is "Don't copy stuff that belongs to someone else." Nothin' saying talented imitations are out-of-bounds, though. Me, I'd love to be able to carry around a chatty Wheatley clone who comments on whatever's going on, but an ACTUAL Wheatley core wouldn't be localized enough to carry the joke. Only a so-called talented imitation would be good enough carry it off.
Terralventhe
True enough. The Adventure Core would be pretty amusing, given the setting. Hah, the Facts Core. Have a custom NPC that has it in their house, specially voiced to comment on how it keeps rambling on about pure nonsense due to the contrast of Tamriel facts vs Earth facts. nofear88
One question. What is a "Core" exactly?
JMMcNemo
One question. What is a "Core" exactly? It's a reference to a game element in Portal 2, another game available through Steam. The "Cores" are artificially intelligent computers (the engineers apparently decided they needed to look like basketball-sized eyeballs) that were intended to aid a much larger computer do its job. I'm leaving out a LOT of detail, but at the end of the game some of the cores got lost in space, where they (if you download the Space Core mod from Steam Workshop) eventually arrive in Tamriel. Well, one of them lands, the other kind of orbits around the Perk trees. There's a lot more involved, but that's the gist of it.
