Help modding character race mesh

Hello Everyone,

This is my first time modding Skyrim and I don't really know any of the tools (except for Blender).

My end goal is to create a new, unique looking race. Basically, I'm going to be doing this, but with the added exception that I want to modify the race's body and face meshes in Blender. I've been searching around, and so far I've figured out how to extract the *.nif files from the game with the FOMM, open them in NifiSkope, and then export them to Blender with the *.obj format.

So here's my question. When I'm done editing my meshes in Blender, will I be able to get them back into the game using NifiSkope? Will they still behave properly with the weight slider and character animationa? That is what I'm kind of confused on.

Thanks in advance!

Hey SquallV,

Simply importing and exporting as .obj will work for weapons but for armor you have to do other things to in order to get the weight sliders done correctly. I'm not sure what you would do for races and player models but I'm assuming it would be more similar to armor. Here is a tutorial for importing/exporting armor nifs into blender and Skyrim: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=3790
