Triforce1
Yeah, it didn't work. That means I'm doind something wrong, so I'll tell you exactly what I did. 1) I built a floaring city and uses JM Rocks to cover up the invisiblity underneath. 2) I made sure all of the "visible when distant" boxes were checked on all of them, but you still have to get ridiculously close to see them. Doesn't work. 3) As per Vagrant0's instructions, I extracted the rocks I was using from the .bsa, renamed them all with _far at the end. 4) I generated new LODs for the entire map; the game placed them in a new Distant LOD folder in my data folder. 5) I put the new rock .nifs in this folder too. Now we are back to were you began helping me. See any flaws?
dyfed99
Two points.. you still have to get ridiculously close to see themYou need to raise your video settings in the main menu during the game (or before launching it) if you want to see them by far. Also you need some settings in the oblivion.ini.. but the default ones work fine. Then you need clear weather.. Finally if you're running any optimizer such is Streamline you will not see them (very possible) cause Streamline changes the fog parameters and changes some settings in the Oblivion.ini too! I put the new rock .nifs in this folder tooAs already said the nifs aren't supposed to be in the distantlod folder. You must put them in their correct folder under meshes\rocks.I think.. at least. *shrug* Additionally you have to re-generate the distantlod data after putting those nifs in their folder.. I do, using TES4LODGen after installing AEVWD or any mod which adds those _far.nif.. Finally you must run the Archive Invalidation after the distantlod re-generation. dyfed99
you still have to get ridiculously close to see themYou may need to change some settings in your Oblivion.ini as well. Try setting fNoLODFarDistanceMin=8000 and fNoLODFarDistanceMax=12000 You need a good rig too..!
Triforce1
A good rig? complete with  ? HA HA ! I laugh energetically at your  ! My "rig" is beastly beyond belief! But enough of that. Thanks. That little bit about the .ini is the best advice you've given me so far. Thanks a ton; I'll tell you if it works. Triforce1
Well, guess what? It didn't work. So, that means you did something wrong. I messed with several things in the ini that I thought would work, and it didn't. So, anything else? Maybe a fresh face to help out?
dyfed99
So, that means you did something wrong.I see Fort Caractacus from the bridge between the IC Market & the prison and Fanacasecul from the Fatback Cave, without AEVWD or TES4LODGen. So I'm guessing you indeed are doing something wrong! After all you need to see those rocks from far. Do you? Maybe not..
Triforce1
Yeah, you're probably right. All I want to do is see those stupid rocks from as far away as I can see the buildings that rest upon them. Sorry if I insulted you; can you dredge anything that might help up out of your brain? <Now would be a wonderful time for Vagrant0 to return...>
