Brandio
I am attempting my first skyrim mod. I'm trying to get a retexture of the defult necromancer robe in my game as a new item. At first I thought I would simply be able to open the ck and duplicate a robe item and then direct it to my texture. Since then I have realized I need a nif file. Im assuming a nif file is a 3d model merged with a texture? Well I downloaded Nifskope, and tried to open the necromancerrobes_f_1.nif file and Nifskope simply gives me an error. My questions are, am I going in the right direction, do I need nifskope to get my texture ingame without replacing a vanilla texture, and why is nifskope giving me an error? I've spent over an hour trying to get this to work looking at different tutorials and such. It is really geting frustraiting  . Ima post an image of my retexture in hopes that it earns me more replies.http://s17.postimage.org/nsxnupfez/nightmarerobes.jpgstill a work in progress :P Edited February 19, 2012 by Brandio
Macoron
Maybe you just download old version? Try my build here. It might help.
