SHazardous
Well, today GECK crashed during saving the file. Weird thing is that the whole file did not corrupt, only some parts. At first when I tried to reopen it to geck it just crashed the program at load. Same thing with game. But FNVEdit had no problems with the file what so ever. I tried to fix/remove the latest edits in FNVEdit, those were nav meshes, and it actually helped a little. Now I could open it in geck ...game still didn't like the file. But, in GECK, when I go in to cell the changes were last time made in, crashbangboom. The parts that are in other cells... in this case other worldspace works without a problem. I tried to remove more edits that I thought might have gone bad but that didn't help either. Then I tried to add some of the new stuff from the corrupted file to last backup file I had. I was able to add guite a lot actually and could load up in geck and even go and edit cell that didn't work last time. But the problem is I can't save the file. When trying GECK always crashes. Also I was able launch the game with the mod activated, but it still crashes immediately when I load up the said worldspace. ...soo, I've figured out the problem might be that cause I've managed to save only parts of placed objects and ai packages and stuff and some parts are missing, like if I have NPC that has scripts or linked refs, and those didn't make it uncorrupted. And now they are missing, it causes the crash and being able to save. And the fact that I was able to open file without a hitch to FNVEdit. Not sure what is it that I'm getting to with this... well for one, is my theory correct?(terms maybe all wrong but I believe you get the idea) Or maybe if anyone ever had same thing happening and if you were able to fix it. Like without going through everything in FNVEdit, saving, opening geck to test, going back to fnvedit...back and fort trying and failing. Cause I think redoing all the that was lost is much less annoying. :) (which I've actually already started) Maybe if there was some tool that fixes/removes corrupted parts automagically. Or at least tells me which they are so I could remove them in fnvedit. Well the safest thing is propably to forget the shitty file and go back to backup file(too bad I didn't backup more often) and re-do everything that was lost... so there is less change things going wrong later when some bad sector in file desides to mess things up. SHazardous
(kinda unnecessery bumb here) Ah, once again more than 6 hours of work gone waste. Same thing happened again. Just before it I had started to edit and adding nav-meshes. Also when going into navmesh edit mode I noticed that navmeshes from one cell had disappeared completely. Again. Yes, this had happened before but I just thought i must have done it myself by accident while adding nav meshes to spots where there wasn't any. But now I'm pretty sure it couldn't have been me, 99% sure. :) I hadn't even edited navmeshes since I last fixed/deleted same problem -removed said deletion in FNVEdit. guestion remains: Has this happened to anyone else. Or am I still just sooo bad with GECK that I delete things without even realising it and cause all kinds of problems. :D Oh yes, funny thing, I also realised the backup folder in data folder wasn't from FNVEdit but from GECK itself. LOL @ me. Well, those backups didn't work for me. All of them caused geck to crash when I loaded up the Cell I've been working on. I'm starting to suspect there is something really badly wrong in my .esp file that causes all this.
