Skyrim Enhanced Shaders issue

With the Skyrim Enhanced Shaders mod installed, the readme says that the * key on the numpad will turn an FPS counter on/off, and that you can turn the mod on/off with shift-F12.

My problem is that neither of these shortcuts work at all!

I get the text in the top left corner when I start the game telling me the mod has been loaded but I can't turn it on/off or show the fps counter :(

Does anyone have any ideas for getting it to work right?

Do the rest of the mod's functions work properly? i.e.: Is it actually altering the visuals?

I thought it was, but I just took some screenshots to compare and it looks pretty much the same. I can't tell a difference at least. I installed the mod with Nexus Mod Manager if that makes a difference.

I'm pretty confident that it needs to be installed manually because NMM would place it's resources in the \Skyrim\Data\ folder when they belong in the \Skyrim\ folder with the main executable.

It should have manual installation instructions included in it's readme.

Thanks for your reply! :)

I tried that as well, copying the contents of the _Skyrim mod folder into the root folder. I uninstalled the NMM version first of course. It does the same thing though :(

Are you running any background monitoring software (MSI AfterBurner, RivaTuner, or CPU Accelerators)? These are known to interfere with the injection method of mods like this. Try turning monitoring software off before playing if so.

Are you using Radeon Pro? Certain AA/AF profiles/compatibility settings available through RP (I believe most people had problems with profiles related to Oblivion) are known to cause similar mods to silently fail shortly after launching the game.

Thanks again for your help :)

I use a 560ti card, I tried shutting down nVidia control panel but it still doesn't work. I should mention that some of the shortcuts listed in the mod do work, just not the shift-f12 or * ones. And still doesn't look like it's affecting the visuals at all. I also tried downloaded a different version of the Mod but it didn't make a difference there either. I will try updating my nVidia drivers I think next, as they just released a new one today.

I haven't heard of anyone who's had issues with nVidia Control Panel though it may be a possibility.

What about your keyboard? Is it a typical 102 key layout (English)? Or is it a "gaming keyboard" with it's own extra functions, etc. I could see nontypical layouts as a potential cause for this as well, or even keyboard drivers.

Also, on GPU Drivers, the 290.53 beta driver outperforms the newer 295.51 beta driver in Skyrim. I haven't tested or heard about Skyrim Performance on the 295.73 WHQL drivers yet so...
