2k hd doesn't work

Subject. So couple of days ago I decided that the time has come to finish Skyrim finally at least once since the gaem is like what, 6 yrs old now. I've been trying to finish skyrim many times, always with mods, because i srsly don't know how one would manage to keep his mind together playing the unmoded game. so yeah, it wasn't my first rodeo at all. though it should be noted only this time I was using NMM, every run before I installed mods with my own hands, thinking NMM is too complicated. Plus i didn't know english good at that time and never managed to find a correctly translated version. God, knowing how much easier mods are with NMM I would have started using it years ago.

Coming to the main topic, I installed 2k hd textures and skyrim didn't show any changes whatsoever. I installed it correctly, using NMM overwriting when being asked. And I saw many people having the same issue. Some reply that the changes are there, but they aren't so clear, but man, am I blind or what, I see how it looks on screenshots, I see the actual game and I can tell the difference. Tried uninstalling official beth's texture pack, all the game did - it returned to the oldest crappiest textures, like 2k hd didn't exist at all. days after this unsiccessful try I stumbled across another global texture mod - noble skyrim. And oh boy did it work. I installed it the same way I did with 2k hd, through NMM, same procedures. But this one worked and that one didn't. What could possible be the reason of that? Even though I'm ok with how the noble skyrim changed my game, I still like 2k hd textures better, I want THOSE to work. Is that a problem?

 

(there was another issue with noble skyrim tho, I installed the performance pack first and it did well, then I installed full 2k pack over it and got constant ctd on loading the game. I deleted the whole texture folder hoping skyrim will now load its archived resources (it does have it, right? wrong?), but still been getting insta-ctd when loading. had to delete the game completely. if any1 knows wtf was that I would much appreciate the info)

Hi Bugaga,

I also tryed out some Texture compilations and wasend satisfied, was always one of the first things to mod for me, better view.

Have to mention my old PC & especialy my Vram(1gb) is not good enough for even the "vanilla high resolution", but after using ENB speed hack, SKSE Mem patch and some perfomance friendly and improving mods (Falling Parts Performance Plus, for expl) i started searching for Texture mods again.

A Mod Manager, in my case TESMM (the old Oblivion Manager) works perfect, is recomended to make things easy. I didnt try others, cause im used to this and it works fine.

I decided to make my own Mix with some great mods (some are just good made 512er/ships), also opened collections to extract the ones i wanted and checked in game till i had enough to merge them alltogether.

Now I am able to play with 1&2K textures, have dressed my companions (Vilja & Recorder) in zzjays Witcher 3 Armor (very detailed), newermind´s Elven Archer Armor, and have barly some micro stutters (i can accept, its when big fires and lots of higher res tex come in sight, still playable in a fight at night, but smooth "running/walking" through riften woods).

Will have to start finding some settings for ENB now, to squeeze a bit more out, till i buy a new pc. If you search steam for DATHOME, there are some pics to see (most are for friends, but have a look).

You will need time and stay concentrated, but the result was an playable, for me better looking Game and learning process modding this.

Important if you get messed up, dont leave anything behind when deleting (ghosts). Go through all folders, open the mod with zip and check if all is away.

In case of youre wanted mod, maybe there is a file not propper and you are the one that cant use this whyever.
