cscottydont
you have to put the esp/other files in the Data folder for Skyrimyou probably downloaded an .zip or .7z file?inside would be the .esp and possibly some other folders depending on the mod what you need to do is copy those then paste them in the Skyrim Data folder I bought mine on steam so the file path is Program Files > Steam > Steamapps > Skyrim > Data

ALittleBird
Do you have the latest version of Skyrim? Because in a former update, when the game was just released, I couldn't click on the button either.
David Brasher
Maybe you could download Wrye Bash and use it to reorder and activate your mods instead of using the default mod manager (which is a really lame one.)

jet4571
"If the 'Data' folder is greyed out. Go to <Your Drive>:\Users\<Your User Name>\Documents\My Games\Skyrim. Inside you will find SkyrimPrefs.ini. Open it make sure there is a line under [Launcher] that says bEnableFileSelection=1 If not, change or add it."
